After years on top, the Vasque Velocity got lighter, faster, and more efficient with the introduction of the Women's Velocity VST Trail Running Shoe. The Vasque Spine Technology midsole provides all the cush you need without sacrificing power or stability. A blend of synthetic nubuck leather and airmesh nylon makes the Velocity VST Trail Running Shoe tough enough for burly terrain and cool enough for the hottest mid-summer runs.
I first tried these shoes because they came up on SAC and I was desperate for a cheap pair of decent shoes. They are the most comfortable, out of the box, shoes I have ever owned. I have average to slightly wide feet. Plenty of room in the toe box, great traction for running on the muddy trails here in Oregon. I loved them so much when I wore them out, I bought another pair exactly like them.
Runs true to size, I usually wear a 6. I tried both the 6 and the 6.5, the 6 fit best.
Colors were true to what I saw on my computer. I have recommended these shoes to my friends.

looking for a women's trail running shoe. Been a pavement marathon runner for years. First time looking for a trail shoe. I am 5'4" 110 pounds. Looking for narrow in heel - roomy toe box. Lots of cushion. Running a half trail run Bald Eagle state park in PA. dirt trails and plenty of rocks. any suggestions? size 7
Vasque is a good choice, so you're starting in the right place. They've never made trail running shoes as good as this years offering before, and they have been making footwear for eons, But they really re-vamped that category and people have taken notice.
This is a 'B' (medium) width and Vasque typically runs larger and generally true to size. This model would be an exception however, and while still remaining true to size, it has an overall, smaller footprint. The toe box is roomy but if you tend to swell a ton in your toes and forefoot area, you may want to buy a 1/2 size up. Never go full size up, no matter what anybody says.
I've tried the men's version of these on and they're light (about 12.0 oz each, women's are probably around 11 and some change).
This is seriously a good choice, I wouldn't want to make it more convoluted by suggesting something else, you'll be stoked on these.
This is my sixth or seventh pair of Vasque Velocity shoes (I'm training for a 100-mile run and am putting in a lot of mileage these days) and I love them.
Lots of room in the toes, but a good snug fit through the arch & heel. Placement of eyelets allows for a couple different lacing patterns, so if one part of your foot starts to rub after 20 or 30 miles, you can switch the lacing a bit and relieve the pressure.
Good traction, good breathability, and good drainage in snowy and muddy conditions.
I have run in the Velocity models for at least 7 years and loved them! Great on rocky, technical trails-great stability & you don't feel every rock underfoot. Sadly, these VST's just don't have a size for me. 8 was too small-toes rubbing on toebox, 8.5 was WAY too big-even with insoles added. Sadly, I must now start all over with some new model.
I bought a women's 11 and men's 9.5 to test sizing (I have a large foot for a women including a large toe box, ie. can't do pointy toes). And this is my most common complaint for women's shoes - NOT ENOUGH ROOM FOR TOES. other than that, comparable performance was much lighter in women's style, thanks for that.
I just ordered my third pair of these, and can't wait until they arrive! The first two pairs are still in use, but the green color was too cute to resist. Super comfy, I wear the older pair for everything. One of a only a few shoes to not instantly rub blisters onto my heels.
Good shoe, Runs a little small. I normally wear and 8.5 and the 8.5 in this my toes hit the front of the shoe when going downhill. Besides being a tiny bit too tiny, they're great. (use them mostly for approach shoes) however, not super recommended for overnight lightweight hikers. def. got blisters in zion after walking for multiple hours.

I am looking for narrow, low boots, gortex. I have very narrow feet. We are going to the Galapagos and I want something sturdier than my New Balance tennis shoes.
Hi Patti- I, too, have narrow feet. I'm happy with the Vasque Kota light hikers/sturdy trail runners I bought on backcountryoutlet.com. They're substantial shoes and while not GoreTex, they keep my feet warm and dry.

These shoes are very comfortable, light weight and priced well. I have high arch and had to get additional insoles but the combination worked perfect for me. Makes the feet feel very stable and secure. I tried many other shoes with and without insoles and these shoes worked the best for me.
