The Troy Lee Designs SE2 Mach Helmet brings DOT-exceeding protection for the nastiest, sketchiest downhill courses in the world. This isn’t some regular mountain bike lid retrofitted with a chinbar—it’s a serious, motocross-ready full-face from one of the most respected helmet companies on earth. Oversized intake and exhaust vents keep you as cool as possible without compromising protection, and the plush liner keeps it snug to your dome. Full titanium hardware helps reduce weight, and a spare visor replaces the one you just cracked on that road gap. Ti bolts aside, the SE2 is still a bit heavier than some weight-obsessive cycling-helmet-derived full-face designs, but on the bright side, it’ll do a much better job preserving your skull when you kiss a boulder at 60mph. We call that a fair trade.
