Keep wind and water outside where they belong with The North Faces Windwall Triclimate Jacket. This 3-in-1 jacket pairs a waterproof HyVent shell with a wind-resistant WindWall fleece liner so that blustery weather never gets between you and your outdoor fun.
The North Face designed this 3-in-1 jacket to be worn multiple ways—the shell alone, the liner alone, and both the shell and liner together
The shell uses waterproof breathable HyVent fabric to shed outside precipitation and to allow excess internal heat and moisture to escape
Underarm zips help increase breathability and shed excess heat during heavy activity
WindWall liner jacket is made of a highly wind-resistant fleece that reduces windchill and increases overall comfort
Windwall liner jacket also provides moderate insulation for outdoor activities—pair the liner with additional base layers when the temperature takes a nosedive
Fully adjustable hood cinches tight around your head (for when the wind and snow are really howling) but is also removable for when the weather clears up
Bottom Line:
The wind will huff, and itll puff, and then itll get bored because you didnt even notice.
So far, so good!! I bought this to replace a TNF Condor jacket. I was a little skeptical because it had mixed reviews. Needless to say, I've been very pleased. I wore it to a college football game right after I got it. It was extremely warm! It fits perfectly too.. I have had problems w/ TNF jackets fitting before, but not this one.
this jacket is awesome I had a columbia that was getting old this one is so much better I ski every week and all i wear is my thermal and the jacket High winds and cold temps are not a problem. I stay warm at all times Best purchase Ive done I purchase lots of North Face products and none have disappointed me. keep it up North face

How accurate is the sizing? I am 5-11 and 180 lbs. with broad shoulders. I own the Nuptse down jacket in a size L and it fits great except for the tight shoulders. Should I get a L or XL. I am afraid an XL would baggy. Experience or suggestions welcomed
TNF generally fits true to size but then again some of us don't and custom tailored clothing is a luxury we mostly can't afford. TNF usually has a full cut in most outerwear so you can go with the Large and get tight shoulders or the XL and have a boxy midsection and draw it in some with the waist cord. Arc'Teryx and some other makers offer a more athletic fit so you might want to give them a test fit if possible. You also might want to look for clothing that offers a waist and bottom hem draw cord to reduce the bulk around your midsection while allowing shoulder room. Flexible, stretchy fabrics like soft shells designed for climbing can also give you the shoulder room you need while keeping the waist bulk down. TNF, and most other companies offer soft shells like this. Good Luck!
Thanks for the question. I actually have a very similar build to you and the Large would definitely work better for you in most cases with The North Face WindWall Triclimate Jacket - Men's. The only exception would be if you want to layer more than a little bit underneath (more than 2 under layers. If this is the case, then go with XL.
I'm 5'5 about 165 and I wear a size small. Medium is too big around the waist and a little long on the sleeve for me. I like my jackets fitted. Hope this helps.

I'm 6' and about 195 ibs with a 44ish chest, I usually wear a large but after reading some of these reviews, Im leaning towards an XL, any suggestions?
The coat was little snug for the size. I would buy a size larger. The coat looks nice, but it is not warm. In weather below 40 degrees F the coat is drafty, and you can feel the cold coming through, especially in the sleeves. It is not worth the money.
I currently have the Atlas Triclimate jacket and it fits snug
I currently have the Atlas Triclimate jacket and it fits snug on the armpit/shoulder region. Does this fit any different? Also, does anyone know how the Vortex would compare to these two in terms of warms and comfortibility/versatility?
I've been using the 'The North Face WindWall Triclimate Jacket' for two months now and have to say - I'm not quite impressed with it. The jacket itself performs really well except for a couple of things which are not so good with the jacket.
The pockets on the outer jacket or the shell pick up cold because of whatever fabric that is. I had to keep my hands in the inner jacket pockets (if I do not have the gloves on).
Another thing is the hood, ahhh..not sure how is that going to help during winter chill...and is made just to keep dry but not warm. Had to order a beanie later.
I give 3 1/2 stars for keeping me warm apart from the two things mentioned above.
Together, the fleece and shell make a warm option when its super windy. With just a t-shirt underneath I am usually warm down to about 25-30 degrees. However if I layer it with a heavier wool baselayer, Im good down to 15degrees easily.
Apart is a little different story. The shell has a ton of features (pit zips, taped zippers, breathable waterproof membrane) and is great. I usually wear it around town when its rainy or windy. It is quite heavy if you are looking to backpack with it. (as far as just a shell layer to carry when its warm. If its cold weight is less a consideration) The fleece is warm in 50degree weather when its not super windy. I bought this fleece for the wind wall protection, and am a little disappointed. It blocks maybe 40% of the wind, which is great for a fleece but not as great as TNF says it is. It is also a little heavy to backpack with, if you are carrying it as an extra mid layer.
My husband had owned a North Face Triclimate for a long time, and I had actually been "borrowing" it for quite a while! So that he could get his coat back, my husband insisted I get my own. I am so glad that I finally did! I am a plus size woman, and prefer to have coats that cover my bottom end. Because of this, I went ahead and purchased the XL men's size to ensure that all I wanted covered, would be. It was the perfect size for me, with enough room for layers underneath. My Triclimate is one of the best purchases I have ever made. Thank you!
