You're five miles from camp when you here the roll of thunder and see black clouds descending from above the canyon. It's going to rain, and it's going to rain hard. Pull The North Face Women's Venture Jacket from it's compact pocket and let it's ultra-high-tech fabric keep you dry when the storm hits.
HyVent 2.5L EC seals out rain while encouraging water vapor to escape so you stay dry without that muggy feeling
Hook-and-loop storm flap and cuffs create a next-to-skin barrier against the elements
Adjustable hood has a hidden drawcord to help you get a perfect fit
Packable design lets you stuff and store this jacket into one of its own pockets
Better than I expected. I read a few reviews but definitely fits better that I thought. I am 5'1 125 lbs and it is perfect. The only reason why I have it 4 and not 5 stars is because there is not much insulation, I can still feel the wind through the jacket and I wish there was netting where the vents are, but other than that I love the color!
August 2012 I got my jacket 2 weeks ago and started using it right away. It´s winter now where I live and it rained so I wore it on top of my north face anorak. It was great!!Besides the color, baja blue is very beautiful.I bought a white one for my mother in law and she´s as happy as me.
Unfortunately, most rain shells around this price point do not breathe very well despite companies claims to the contrary. I would open any vents as soon as (and as open as) possible.
I received my jacket but have not used it as yet. I will be taking it with me to Europe in a few weeks and will most likely use it a lot. It seems it will be easy to pack and it lightweight.
i just recieved my jacket and i must say im kinda in love with it , its cute and will come in handy during those harsh rainy days that we get sometimes. I got the vaporous grey, its more of a creamy white but is still nice. Fits great with just enough room for a fleece or sweater to fit underneath. Great jacket for a great price :)
As with just about any technical rain shell, you can machine wash this, but with a little extra TLC. Your best bet is to wash it in cold water on a gentle cycle, and to use a detergent designed for use with waterproof clothing. NikWax makes a couple different kinds, but they aren't the only ones out there, or you can also use a very mild powdered detergent. A couple important things - make sure all of the zippers and velcro tabs are closed, and never use fabric softeners. The jacket has a care tag sewn in one of the inside seams near the waist with more specific instructions on what you should and shouldn't use, but the bottom line is that this is machine washable.
So, I originally purchased the Marmot Precip rain jacket, but the hood is incredibly shallow and the brim did not cover my face (mind you I have a fairly small head). I returned it an purchased the North Face Venture in Vaporous Grey. 1) This jacket is amazing, the material is far less noisy than the Marmot version, but keeps me dry as a bone. 2) Not only is the hood deep enough that the brim covers my face adequately, but additionally the fabric through which the face ties run rests against your forehead for added stability. 3) Did I mention it keeps me dry as a bone!
AWESOME JACKET, get it.
I am 5'2", 115lbs, and the XS is plenty big enough to fit my NF Denali jacket underneath. FYI the Vaporous Grey is not so much grey as it is cream/off white. I love it, but don't let the word grey in the color fool you.
Great Jacket for summer weather in Alaska. Blocks the wind and rain while allowing ample breathing. The pit zips and adjustable wrist cuffs are a nice touch. I am 5'5" and 123lbs and purchased a small. It has just enough room to wear a fleece underneath for added warmth. My only complaint is the color. I ordered Vaporous Grey and it is not at all grey. It is white with maybe just a slight hint of a light grey undertone (and even a hint is a stretch). The only grey I can see on the jacket is the trim. Very nice color if you want white instead of grey. I returned this jacket because of the color and ordered magic magenta, which is gorgeous!
I just received my XS venture jacket in Vaporous grey; some minor complaints, you can't tell in any of the pictures but inside the cuffs and the inside edge of the hood is dark purple and it really is just white, not grey. I was a little disappointed about that--I got grey so that it would be neutral. Also, if you're petite like I am (5'2" and 110lbs) even the XS will be a little roomy unless you want to be able to wear a sweatshirt or a fleece underneath it. Other than that its over all pretty much as described--it is light weight and certainly waterproof. It does get a little muggy inside but not too bad. I would give this jacket (ignoring my dislike of the purple) 4 stars.
Man do I love this jacket! I was pretty peeved that I had to buy a breathable, waterproof, windproof jacket as mandatory equipment for a 100k trail running race. But as soon as it arrived I was in love! I have a bunch of jackets for cycling and previously used these when the weather turned feral on my runs, but never again! This jacket ticks all the boxes, it's light, warm but not overly toasty (stick a fleece and a thermal underneath when the weather really turns bad and you won't feel a thing) and the colour (I got baja blue) is a nice bit of bright on a ho-hum grey day. It's also a great length, keeping everything up top nice and dry and comfortable - mandatory when chest infections are your arch nemesis! I wear it running. I wear it to work (I'm a press photographer). I wear it around town. Heck, I wore it to bed in our motor home when our recent overnight highway stop got below zero! I've always had a bit of a crush on North Face gear, and this jacket just keeps the love alive!
Love this jacket! I have it in the parasol pink sz. L. I'd say it runs big since I tried the XL and it was too large and that's what I would normally wear. It's water resistant, comfortable. Just make sure you can wear a sweatshirt or something underneath bcuz the jacket will do nothing warmth wise. Get it!
If you looking for a good rain jacket that will allow you to layer w/o feeling bulky, this is it. Although like most rain jackets, it doesn't breathe well, there are pit zips that help with ventilation. Also, it cuts right through the wind.
I'm 5'5, 129lbs, 34D chest with long arms and broad shoulders. Very straight figure except for boobs. I got the men's small and it fits perfect with enough room for layering.
I wear this jacket in the summer. It is very light and 100% waterproof, although not as breathable as my gore Tex jacket. It is the jacket I always bring along just in case because it is light and fits easily in my hydration pack. It has stood up to the weather whenever it was needed. This is also the jacket I wear to town, as it is sleek and doesn't attract much attention. I have the black in small. I'm 5'8", 140lbs. The medium would have been better I think, but given what I use it for the small works. I have a larger rain jacket that I use on backpacking trips and winter trips so I don't use this one for layering.
