The North Face Varius Guide Jacket - Women's - 2009 BCS
Itís not cool when youíre close to the summit and a gust of chilly wind blows directly up your jacket. The North Face made the Womenís Varius Guide Jacket with an elastic wind skirt that blocks unwelcome wind.
- Waterproof breathable HyVent fabric and fully taped seams deal with wetness
- Removable hood reduces bulk when the sky is clear
- Underarm zipper vents dump excess heat
- Hem cinch cord works with wind skirt to retain heat and block the chill

Wore the Varius Guide Jacket (and Pants!) on a snowshoeing trip out in the Snoqualmie National Forest Region. Great jacket with one problem: the wind/powder skirt is not detachable. Also would have been good to have the skirt lower or have an anti-slip elastic band to keep it in place.

I wear a small in the Khumbu fleece and I want a shell that I can zip it into, but I need to know if I should get the same size as the Khumbu fleece I have or if I should order a size up? (I'm 5' 2" and 128 lbs) I've seen that some people have reported that the same size works great and others have said that they need a larger size in this shell to fit over their fleece, so I'm a bit confused. If you get a larger size shell than the fleece, can they be zipped together?
