When you’re ready to morph from regular dude to steep-shredding shralpmaster, zip up The North Face Men’s ST Transformer Jacket. Designed in part by steep-skiing pioneer Scot Schmidt, the Transformer not only shields you from the abrasive elements with its HyVent shell fabric and reinforcement panels, but it stashes a day’s worth of essentials in its detachable daypack. The adjustable hem and waist-belt seal you off from powdery blasts, while the old school flair takes you back to the days of skinny skis.
Essentially putting on North Face Steep-Tech Gear is like Frodo putting on the ring...it's a gamechanger, you'll get powers and others are gonna be jealous be-atchiz. The pockets, buckles, zippers, and various do-hickies lets others know that you are a powder pimp ready to take it deep and ready to drop your meat bomb over any cliff. But be warned, where X-tremeness dwells so follows the forces of darkness: jealousy, anger, and girls with low self-esteem............YOU'VE BEEN WARNED,USE YOUR NEW POWERS WISELY!!!!!!!!! Hint:(the pocket on the left shoulder is perfect for holding 3 Magnum brand condoms)

I have been a long fan of TNF products for function and quality, but this jacket did not live up to my expectations. Specifics-main zipper is too small and has no front flap, there are no arm vents to open. There is no powder skirt, and it is really more of a shell than a jacket, as there is limited insulation. The pockets, though numerous and small on the front, are difficult to articulate with gloves. I removed the pack, which had less room than my wife's purse, and I removed the belt on the second day. If you want to look great in the lift line, then go for it. If you want the versatility of something this expensive beyond the groomed slope, then look elsewhere.
A very nice looking coat. I get compliments everytime I wear it. Like most of the Steep Tech line, this is not a heavy coat. It is designed for outdoor activities. Meaning, it does a great job of keeping your body heat in. I would suggest layering if the temp is below 20 deg. F or you are not going to be moving.
The North Face ST Transformer Jacket is a good shell. After a week of sking in very cold weather (Below 15 degrees) I found it to be a good outer shell-kept me dry in snow, warm while wearing fleece middle layer and poly underwear base layer. I would call it a great shell if it had pit zips (which I did not need on this trip) and larger hand warmer pockets. The day pack turned out to be handy, I love the stowaway hood in the collar and the belt works great to keep the jacket down - snow out while having good range of motion - even seems to have some strech in shoulders when raising arms for powder sking. I'm 5'9" 155lbs 38 chest 30 waist and the small fits great .
I do not understand your politics(policy) of sale, have bought several things in eeuu and it is the first time that I have a problem to be able to buy something.
concerning this comment, I also had the same problem, backcountry couldnt ship in canada because northface made them sign an agreement not to do so. northface try to protect their markets. I used a service of u.s. mail adress, asked backcountry to ship there (was free shipping) and the other company shipped to me the 2 northface jackets I bought. cost me 70$ of shipping but saved around 300$ on jackets...
I had purchased a TNF Agency jacket a few years back here, and
I had purchased a TNF Agency jacket a few years back here, and that jacket has gotten me through some rough patches from the slopes to the cold winters in NYC. Im back in school now and the agency just a big hassle to put on for me, so i saw this new style from steeptech, and was wonder if it would be as warm as the Agency, since its much simpler. How warm will this keep me with the on coming winter mayhem that is approaching the usa as predicted, in the coming months?
I just bought this jacket, I used to have an agency but even in medium it was waaay too big. Got this one in a small and fits perfectly. It is thinner in my opinion than the agency (I returned it so I can't actually compare). At the same time it doesn't feel like I am wearing a parachute, so that's good. I think it's a more convenient jacket and I think it should hold up to the NYC winter (I live on Long Island). When it comes to extreme cold ie: below zero, I'm not sure if it will be very warm in that situation. I'll have to wait and see when winter comes.
Great looking coat, zippers are to small, and the coat is not very warm. The belt is hard to figure out. I guess I just expected more from a North Face product.
all i can say is I LOVE IT...i lil kinda too big for the size..and i got it medium and it was still a lil big..other than that its fantastic...does the job its supposed to do
