I'm trying to find out the true color of Bordeaux. Is it a crimson red or is it a more purpley maroon. It seems odd that it has red zippers. How does that look. Also how does it fit? Does it run small or true to size?

I'd say it's more of a purpley maroon but it's still sort of red. Just not crimson red which was what I originally expected. The zippers are actually more magenta than red so the picture doesn't really show the true colors. I still like the color a lot, once I got over the fact that it wasn't actually dark red. True to size and the inner lining is super cozy!

Nice jacket

By:

I was a bit disappointed to find that the Bordeaux wasn't a dark crimson red like the picture but more a deep purple/red. However, it's still a cute and unique color - I don't see it around too often and I like that. The lining is the softest thing imaginable - love it! I wear this in mildly cold weather but haven't subjected it to windier days yet. The material is a lot softer than my Apex Bionic jacket.

How does it do in colder weather, say 30's? I'm looking for one that is lightweight but will keep me warm. Like would it be warm enough to walk around downtown KC in in the winter?

best fur repellent for a soft shell

By:
November 12, 2011

i bought this jacket, because of a previous review that said it didn't collect dog fur; and because i have two large labs, and can never leave the house without some sign of them, i was intrigued by the statement. Turns out to be completely correct, and it's a totally rad layering jacket. And while it would be super extra awesome if it were windproof too - i'll take the fur repellent anyway. I am 5'5@ 120lbs, I bought the small, and it hits the top of my hips, nice space in the shoulders, and it has some stretch to it too, so it's great when your doing more than just running from the house to the car.

Not a good fit

By:
September 2, 2011

Like the color and feel of the material. However, tight under the arms, but baggy through the waist. Also, the collar was not high and tight as suggested in the photo, so I don't think it would be very good at keeping in the warmth.

love this jacket

By:
July 17, 2011

was a little worried when I bought this jacket because the outer shell seemed a little thin...but I wear it all the time and it still looks like new, I hooked the outer shell on something the other day...was sure I snagged it but it didn't even leave a mark. the outer shell is really tough and it is still soft and flexible. I am really hard on my clothes and this jacket is holding up beautifully. just wish it came in more colors...

I love this jacket, very comfortable yet tough, I wear it all the time and it still looks like new, fits great, looks great...I have an apex bionic too but this one is more comfortable, more flexible...

I returned this one because it was much more flimsy and flexible material than the Apex Bionic, which is what I ended up getting. If you like the stiffness of the Apex Bionic jacket, then you might not be too pleased with the flimsiness of this jacket. It did have a nice silken fleece lining, and that was the only thing that I really liked about it. It was not a true black color though, more like charcoal. But if you already have an Apex Bionic and looking for something different, then this might work for you!

Great Jacket!

By:
February 19, 2011

Love this coat! It is a great "light weight" coat. I purchased this coat instead of the North Face Denali for 1 reason....lint/fuzz does not stick to it. It is hard for me to wear black because I have a yellow lab. This coat allows me to wear a black coat without looking like my dog exploded on me! I think it will continue to look great for years to come. It also looks a little nicer than your average fleece coat.

I purchased one for my wife back in October, and that one is black with a black fleece lining. Funny though the picture here shows it to be gray...so I dont know for sure!

Have purchased three

By:
February 18, 2011

Have purchased three black Raschel jackets. One for my college daughter who loved it so much that I had to buy one for myself and my mom. Three generations wearing the same jacket. The outside fabric is great because it will not pill like North Face fleece can and it will not attract lint. Very comfortable, inside of jacket has a comfy soft lined fabric which is cozy. I bought mine for travel. Light weight enough but warm. It is a great color not a true black almost more a charcoal which is more versitle. My sixteen year old daughter was eyeing up my new jacket so I can see myself purchasing a fourth. It will never go out of style and is awesome. We have many many North Face jackets and this one will be worn the most. Best North Face Purchase!!!

Soft, stretchy but short

By:
February 8, 2011

I have a North Face Windwall 2 jacket and was looking for something with a little more insulation. I really like the velvety soft lining of this jacket and smooth face. However, the arms were really short compared to my other jacket. I couldn't wear layers under this jacket without it bunching up in the sleeves and coming up above my wrists. The torso could stand to be a little longer too. Wanted to like it but no go for me. Back it goes.

Best fleece by far!

By:
July 6, 2010

I am obsessed with the North Face, and own at least 8 different fleeces. This one is hands down the best! The raised fleece on the inside feels amazing against the skin and is super warm. Water rolls right off the jacket, and it is completely windproof. I am 5'5'' and about 115 lbs and have pretty long arms, and the small fits great. It is a little shorter in the torso than some of their fleeces, but by no means too short. I also find that this jacket is more flexible than other windwalls that I own. LOVE IT!!!!

Pretty nice

By:
January 17, 2011

This is a nice jacket, but the outside color is not a true black, it's more of a gray-black or charcoal color. But the fleece inside is a true black. The fleece is nice and soft, but it gives the jacket a little bit of a puffy look when you're wearing it. I was debating between the Ruby Raschel and the Apex Bionic, and initially chose the Ruby because I thought it would be more comfortable, which it is. However, because it's not really black, and it makes me look puffy when I'm wearing it, and I don't think the fleece does much for keeping me warm, I decided to return it and get the Apex Bionic instead.

I have both, and like both...but the Apex is a little stiff for me, The Ruby Raschel is soft and more flexible and yet very durable,I'd live in it weather permitting...

I tried on both today and liked the fit of both, except the arms on the Apex Bionic were much too long for me. Decided to go with the Ruby since it's more comfortable and fits me better overall.

I did the exact the same thing! Purchased Ruby Raschel first and ended up with the Apex Bionic also!
