The North Face Men’s Prophecy II Hiking Shoe combines a low-key design, bomber Vibram soles, and durable Nubuck uppers into a serious trail warrior. This shoe takes on everything from an afternoon hike to a week on the AT. The North Face added mesh slots to the uppers for extra cooling power on hot days. From backdoor trails to epic mountain ridges, these shoes can handle just about anything you throw their way.
Picked these up before a photo trek to Death Valley NP - wore them around for about a week then put them through the salt flats in the Badwater area, jagged rocks on the steep hills near the Racetrack, and up and down the Mesquite Dunes.
All in all, great shoes that did well on and off trail and I would buy another pair in an instant.
The only hiccup I ran into was the heel loop on one of the shoes broke the same day I received them - cut it off of both, don't really miss it!
I am not impressed. I have worn many styles of TNF footwear as well as many other brands both as a consumer and an employee of an outfitter. I wish I had returned them before I used them. I recommend paying the extra money for a better shoe.
Definitely. I have a pair and also have really wide feet. Feels like I have room to move. You'll be happy with the fit of pretty much any North Face shoe.
I am such a big supporter of TNF and with that said I actually have never liked one pair of NF shoes, and luckily this time I did return these before I wore them. Just buy trying them on and walking a few steps in my house I knew they were not for me. They actually felt like they had no vertical support as if I was standing on a ball. Thats the best way I can describe it. Plus they are extra wide even though they do not look like they are. Even after all of this I do still want to try a pair of NF Hedghog's, and from what I have read in other reviews I recommend trying those instead of these. Thats just my humble opinion.
Only thing I didn't like about it is the shoelace...they don't last long, it scrapes through the loops which causes friction and eventually cuts. Mine went out within 6 months. It's hard to find a shoe lace that match, I just bought one at Wal Mart and it's been doing the job.
Other than the neg about the laces I use it for working out and on normal days, very comfy and light! they just need to improve the materials.
Hi i need a couple pairs of northface shoelace's,i have bought
Hi i need a couple pairs of northface shoelace's,i have bought regular shoe laces at the sporting goods store and they don't seem to fit .The model is a Hedgehog in blue/gray .ax4rofat246566292.I hate to just throw it away bec. its a very comfortable shoes. thanks
just contact TNF's warranty department. If they wont give em to you for free then they will charge you a small price, way better than buying a new pair of shoes :-)
Shoe is extremely light and breathable! My feet stayed cool the whole time on mountain. Traction was phenomenal! After a 5.5 hr hike up a mountain, I walked into a Gore Creek in Vail, Co to ice my legs. Rocks were slippery and I did not have any trouble navigating or slipping with treads on bottom of shoes! Although it lacked in ankle support, it made up with adequate support and comfortability. Highly recommend shoe! I purchased dark shadow grey/slickrock red.
Great platform for the money. At $80 and Vibram you can't go wrong. Very good cushioning and outsole. My favorite non-Gore hiker lightweight hiker. Unlike the rest of the reviews, I have a pretty narrow foot, and these still fit very well. Same platform at the Hedgehog in non-Gore.
Great shoe for hiking in the Smokey Mountains. Very comfortable and light weight with excellent grip in wet rocks. Plus I have a wide foot (13 EEE) and this shoe fit very comfortably.
I bought these shoes and immediately started to abuse them. After 5 straight days of hiking, I was really impressed. The Vibram sole is the best for scrambling over rocks, and they were really comfortable on my feet. They took the regular trail abuse well, but the stitching is beginning to come apart on the sides.
Got this shoe at a pretty good price compared to other shoes in the same category. So far, it has held up pretty well and is extremely comfortable. Looks pretty decent too.
I wear these as daily footwear, and they have outlasted ever other pair of footwear I have tried. They are very lightweight and breath well, and provide comfort and support beyond any other shoes I have tried. I have worn out 3 pairs, each lasting more then an year, and I wear them 7 days a week. I will continue to purchase this model forever!
