Sometimes a fleece jacket feels like a thin beach towel. Disappointing. The North Face Women’s Osito Fleece Jacket, however, feels like a high-loft, plush, fuzzy fleece blanket. A standard fit means the Osito slides easily over a tee or long-sleeve thermal top, and the cuff-snaps attach to The North Face Triclimate shells for a day on the slopes.
I think they run weird also. The large was a little too small and the XL is too big. I wear an XL in juniors normally. I kept the XL though in case i wanted to wear thick shirts underneath.

I usually wear a medium so I got a medium however, I won't be able to wear anything thick underneath so I returned it and got a large, now I feel the large is to big and the sleeves on both sizes are pretty short. The jacket is incredibly soft but a little too narrow in the sleeves and chest which makes it hard to wear the jacket zippered up or with anything but a thin shirt.
Really? I do beg to differ, I just got the guava green one and can wear a fleece pullover underneath it. Not a thick fleece, but a regular weight one. The sleeves are not form fitting, but not as loose as the Columbia fleece jackets are. Unless you order too small or are quite busty, I don't see where you would have a problem wearing shirts underneath this jacket.
Yeah, I have to disagree. I have the XS (I'm 5'3, 110 lbs) and I can wear a sweater under my Osito fleece jacket or a hooded sweatshirt, and with room to spare.

You could order both and ship back the one that doesn't fit to your tastes or try one on in a local sporting goods store. But you should be fine in your regular size. If your regular size tends to fit very closely you might want to upsize one because as a winter jacket you will likely have more layers beneath than a summer jacket. Good luck!

This is a medium sized guava green jacket on. I am wearing a fleece pullover underneath it and it is comfy and doesn't feel tight in the arms at all. I'm 5'7"/130 and medium fits nicely.

The Osito is warm and soft, really you can't beat the feel of this jacket! But the sleeves are just too short! I always wear XS in TNF with room to spare, and the cuffs of the Osito are hitting 2 inches above my wrist bone, while being baggy in the torso. So, sizing up isn't really an option for me. I might get my local tailor to add some jersey cuffs to my Osito so I don't have chilly wrists!
FYI, I saw the new colors at Dick's, and the Juicy Red is not red at all! It is more of a coral orange. The other colors are spot on, though, at least from my monitor.

I got this jacket in black for Christmas a year ago. The front of the jacket in the breast area is flat and worn, no other part though. I've been very careful washing it, but its just that one area. Is anyone else having this issue?
I ordered 1 osito fleece jacket in black & I loved it. It's a small & I am 5"1 about 105 lbs & it fits perfect with something light to mid weight underneath. I loved it so much I ordered another one in brown in a small & a squid red one in medium so I can wear it a little longer into the colder weather with something a little heavier underneath it. I also ordered 2 for some friends for Christmas gifts. They are so soft & comfortable. Also very warm, I live in northeastern PA & usually by the end of October/early November I have already upgraded to a heavier jacket, but I still have been wearing my osito fleece, even when the morning temperatures have been in the 20's. I know my friends I bought these for are going to love them. I would definetely recommend this jacket.

I hand wash mine in the sink with detergent and softener (separately) and then put it on the spin cycle to get all of the water out and just let it hang dry.

By far my favorite jacket! It is very soft and comfortable. I have read people complaining that the arms are too tight. I have not found that to be the case, however I am very small. I have 4 north face jacket made of this material now. This is the model I prefer though because the one with a hood gets tight at the wrist cuffs, which I find to be annoying. Word of advice though: DO NOT DRY IN A DRYER!!! I did that with my first one and the fabric lost it's soft texture and became much less attractive. It still functions as a warm layer but the fleece clumps together and is not appealing to the eye. Bought these for my bridesmaids and sure enough my sister dried hers. Almost cried when I saw what happened to it. Otherwise, amazing little jackets!
Linda, I checked at TNF site and all of the retailers that I deal with and nobody has one in stock. You could try talking to a customer service rep to see if they will get in more stock or contact TNF directly.
I have had this jacket for three weeks, and it has been great so far. It is surprisingly warm, and although it isn't windproof, I have been surprised by its wind resistance. It was snowing lightly the other day and I wasn't cold. It is also nice indoors; I can wear it in my drafty office, and it isn't too warm.

This jacket is super cozy. It is more form fitting than my other fleece jackets so I wouldn't wear it over a bulky sweater. But it also seems to stretch along with my movement so it doesn't feel tight. I am usually in between a small and medium and the small works well over a single layer underneath. It's so cozy I often leave it on when I come back indoors because I hate to take it off!
Great value, we have seen this same jacket other places for $120 to $130. We love the soft feel! It is not a heavy winter jacket. But it is great here in Alabama where we don't have a lot of super cold weather.

My friend got her Osito in black and she let me try it on. I loved it! It is super comfortable and soft! Because if my friend I'm probably going to get one... Probably=going to get one! Got my "magic magenta" osito jacket in the mail today and I love it so so much I had to order another one in vaporous grey! fits absolutely perfectly! as a sophomore in college i know North Face jackets are "in style" for winter time! perfect to throw a hoodie underneath and still stylish enough to go out in! i want to buy my daughter a jacket for Christmas..does the Osito jacket fit the same as the Khumbu jacket? if she wears a medium in the Khumbu will she fit into a medium in the osito?
I've owned this jacket for almost a year now in Brunette Brown, and so far it has held up well as far as the silky fleece goes. It fits great, is snuggly warm, and I get lots of hugs and compliments when i wear it. Only complaints are that the fleece has matted up under the my dominant forearm, and despite trying to gently brush it out, it has not regained the texture of the rest of the jacket. I also wash it and allow it to air dry as per many people's suggestions, which is kind of a pain, but it has kept in great shape. All in all I love this jacket and definitley recommend it!

Write your question here...I'm worried about the color of this jacket. When on the northface website, the gravity purple jacket looked like a more vibrant purple than on this website. Also, the inside, where the collar is...on the northface website the inside is also purple. In this website, the inside collar is light grey. How can it be the same jacket?? And, is the purple color different??? Thank you!
The purple is more of a plum purple than eggplant, it is bright but not neon or overly bright. As far as the collar the coat does have pale grey accents. I bought this for Christmas, unfortunately it is wrapped so I'm going by memory. I'm pretty sure it is purple but it does have the light grey accents on the inner collar, but it is very subtle and small area. I bought a white scarf to go with it and it doesn't clash with the grey.
I got the pinkish/purple jacket and just love it. It is so soft and comfortable. I haven't washed it yet, so i don't know if it will still be as soft after, but am hoping so!
Yes.....My husband ordered one for me and I would wear a medium but since I like to wear bulky sweatshirts I needed extra room so the coat would fit over them so I got a large and there is still a little bit of room (not alot just enough) and I ordered one for my daughter in size medium, but she is taller than me and has longer arms, a small fit everywhere else but the arms
Got this jacket for my girlfriend for Christmas but it was the wrong size. Had to wait till just now to catch it in the right color and size, but it is worth it. She loves it. Has worn it all day since UPS brought it. Had a few fuzzies but its fine now later on in the day. Very very soft and plush. Says it is very warm. Been in the 20s and she hasn't been complaining.
Yeah for sure, I would follow he directions on the tag inside the jacket... a rule of thumb is: sport soap (no laundry soap!), cold wash, gentle cycle, extra rinse, low spin, tumble dry low/no heat...
Really like my new jacket, soft, warm, beautiful color (brunette brown), but the sleeves are a little short. I'd like a larger size, but there's not an XL in brown :-(
on this jacket in particular, scroll to the bottom of the jacket lists with prices and the only jacket that is left that is on sale is the "lcd green" jacket which is also an xs and is considered a 'discontinued color' or the past season colors...Sometimes if you are lucky, you can get the regular colors (black, brown, blue) on sale and they just have some minor differences from this years models.
The sale price is only on the ones that are listed as sale priced...usually the old colors are the ones on sale, like last years models...usually when it says these jackets are on sale, look down the list and it will tell you which ones are full price and which ones are not. Usually their are only a couple left of the extra smalls that are on sale, if that and that of sucks that they say this jacket is on sale when really the old models/colors are the ones that are!

I have an TNF apex bionic soft shell and it is great, really good fit. I have a THN momentum and dont really like it, don't like the fabric, a little too light weight and the fit is a little too tight around my hips. I love the look of this Osito fleece but wonder if it is a heavier fleece than the momentium? My husband has a THF khumbu and I like the weight of that jacket. I know I am not exactly comparing apples with apples but wonder if anyone has any thoughts
I bought this as a gift for my daughter. It was leaving fuzzies so I washed it and dried it according to the directions on the tag. It still leaves fuzzies especially on the seat belts of the car when they are worn for driving. Pain to scrape them off and they will attache to anything they come close to. Hopefully this will go away with further washings.

I cannot post a picture because I bought it for my daughter who is studying abroad. The color is more red than pink. It is a very pretty color. I don't think you would be disappointed. She loves the jacket and I would love to get one for myself! It is very soft.
My girls really want a pink or purple North Face Coat this year. I looked everywhere and I can't find either color. You really need to have more colors to choose from.

I have always had a khumbu fleece in the past and was admiring others peoples osito fleece because of the super softness of the fleece. I had thought it would be cut exactly like the khumbu but that is not the case. The osito is much wider through the body and kinda bulky. You would think I should just size down, but the sleeve length is almost too short as it is so I cant do that. I love the fleece itself, so very very soft and doesnt pill at all, unlike the khumbu. I think I may send this one back and go back with the khumbu. ;(

The best advice I can give for this jacket is to NEVER put it in the dryer. I love the texture of these jackets (so so so soft). But it completely changes it you dry it in a dryer.I have several now though and they are all in great condition. I wash them with the rest of my clothes and air dry them. I have a scarf and mittens made of the same fleece and I treat them all the same way. Hope this helps!

Super soft on the inside and out. I've worn the Osito with only a sports bra underneath (on my way to the trail for a run) and it's super warm and non-abrasive. Love this jacket.
Yes, the soft fleece material will also be on the inside, but some jackets are textured slightly differently on the inside than out, depending on if they are lined or not. Regardless, fleeces are SUPER comfy and warm and will last you FOREVER!
I absolutely love this jacket! It is warm, light weight and comfortable. You can wear it with just about anything and look great. Fit is very true to size and allows for room for clothing underneath. Hope to ad to my collection with other colors soon!!
I ordered a North Face Fleece Jacket and it was shipped. IT was delivered but only left at the front door where it ended up being taken and not received by my family. I called Back Country and they were wonderful and so helpful. I was thrilled at the lengths they went to make this unfortunate problem solved. I wear around a large in most of my shirts as i have gained some weight this year. My nephew let me have his Columbia jacket and the size is an 18/20 youth. It fits perfectly on me. Should I get a large size of this Northface or an extra large? I want it to fit well but not be tight!
I've gone through a half dozen fleece jackets including Mountain Hardware and Patagonia, and as much as I really like both of those manufacturers, nothing compares to the North Face Osito. Since I bought it a few weeks ago, I've only not had it one when I'm asleep! It's a plush fleece that is amazingly warm, it's roomy enough for a layer underneath without being baggy, and the sleeves are a good length (something I have trouble with in other brands i.e., typically too short).
This has most certainly become my new standby fleece jacket, and the gray color is really lovely and matches everything really well.
Yes, This is going to be a little lighter than the Denali. Along the same lines though, something that is good for the cold and you can through a shell over, or layer out under it. Just a different look.

Your jacket is considered part of the layering pieces, as is this jacket. So you wont be able to zip this into that. If you have a Triclimate shell, then you can zip the fleece you have, as well as this one into that jacket.
I really like this jacket!!! It is amazing. It keeps me so warm and comfortable. i wear it everywhere! The only reason I gave it four stars is that when I first got it, a bunch of fur would get on my shirt whenever I wore it. That problem has gone away since then.
I have washed mine several times exactly by the directions on the tag and it always comes out looking and feeling brand new. I just use Arm & Hammer powder soap and hang dry it.
Beautiful, soft and warm! Purchased as a gift for our daughter for Christmas and she loves it! Between the 2 girls they own 6 North Face jackets. We have been more than pleased with the quality and warmth of these jackets. We would highly recommend North Face Denali and North Face Osito! The color selection is great too.
I love this color (retro pink)! This was my first ever North Face purchase and I'm very pleased. I thought it would be worn for mainly looks but found out it also keeps you very warm! I wear it by itself in cold weather and it blocks quite a bit of cold wind. Definitely satisfied with my purchase!
This is my daughter's 4th North Face jacket and she loves it just as much as her others. She has this jacket in black and what's great about this jacket is it doesn't seem to attract/show the lint, hair, or dog fur as much as her black Denali North Face.

I ordered the "fuzzy" black jacket from North Face for my daughter for Christmas. She's 16 and a petite gal. The womens small fit her perfectly. And it's so warm she wears it all the time--even in her school which can be very cold in some rooms. My experience with Backcountry.com was awesome, too.
