Women looking for protection and coverage when conditions or social standards demand it should add The North Face Horizon Valley Convertible Hiking Pant to their active wardrobe. Beyond the obvious versatility of the removable lower pant legs, the bluesign approved nylon fabric is lightweight, packable, and dries quickly\227ideal for travelers and trekkers.
Durable micro-ripstop nylon dries quickly and resists premature wear from the elements and heavy use
Lower legs zip off just above the knee to convert into a 10-inch short
Bluesign approved fabric for environmentally friendly textile production and awareness
Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) 50-rated fabric helps protect skin from excessive exposure to damaging sunlight
Cuff-snaps allow you to remove the lower legs without removing shoes/boots
Partial elastic waist ensures pants won’t sag when after extended wear or from pack abrasion
Patch cargo pockets are low-profile and provide quick access to small items
Bottom Line:
There\222s a world of possibilities in the Horizon Valley Pant.
I can never find nice hiking pants that fit well - I am 5'7", 155lbs, pear-shaped (thin waist and a full gluteus). I HATE that most women hiking pants don't have the elastic around the waist that guy hiking pants do. For me, since my waist is small, the elastic around the waist is one of the things I looked for because I don't want to have my undies showing. That is why I am EXTREMELY happy and pleased with these pants because they fit perfectly around the waist. As far as the length, I thought they were a bit long, but then I put on my hiking boots and it turned out that the length is also perfect (not too short, not too long). I wish they had these in more colors (I bought the Dune Beige) because I would buy them in a heartbeat.

I just received these and was a little anxious to try them on. I have never bought any of TNF's pant before, and I wasn't able to try them on before buying them.
That said, I am 5'8" about 150lbs (normally 145 but have put weight on this winter)
I normally wear a 6 in jeans, but after reading how TNF's pants normally run small I went with a M/Long. They seem to be just the right length. I like my pants to cover my shoes and I think these will be just right.
They fit a little tight through the thigh, but not so much that they are uncomfortable.
All in all, they fit well and I really like them. The only reason I withheld a star was because I wish they seemed a little sturdier. Only time will tell on that, since I've had them less than 30 minutes!
