Almost right...

I found these pants to have a very low rise and to be a little tight in the thighs when squatting/bending - not the best fit for skiing. At 5'2" the short length was perfect. I found a better fit with the North Face Sally Pant.

TNF Freedom Insulated Pant

Really happy with these pants. They kept me warm & dry. Wore them with just thermals underneath in 4degrees Celsius & snowing.
Comfortable fit and the adjustable waist tabs are handy too. Bought a medium, which I found true to size - they were a little big (which i was expecting) but the adjustable tabs ensured they stayed put on my hips. I am 5'7" & 136lb (173cm, 62kg).
My husband has the non-insulated men's freedom pant but had to wear thermals & a shell pant underneath.

How's the hip fit on these? Many pants I try on in stores

How's the hip fit on these? Many pants I try on in stores (jeans, dress pants, even my own 686 snowboard pants) are a bit snug in the waist but too loose in the leg. I wear a size 0 pant, but have wide hips for my thin figure. How do these pants compare?

70% Stoked 30% Bummer

I'm glad I got these on sale because they are in no way waterproof. You can't sit on packed powder for five seconds without getting thoroughly soaked through the insulation & through your long underwear too!

BUT these are the ONLY pants who's waist adjusts tight enough to really stay up on deep, soggy days AND ALSO loosens enough for park/mogul riding & road tripping to the mountain.

Hey there, I am going to put this age old question to rest, hopefully...
Basically the difference between a waterproof rating in PSI vs MM of H2O is the type of test the Co. uses...

So lets do the math and come up with a universal formula to convert PSI to MM and back.

PSI is lb/in^2
So lets convert PSI to inches of water... (X)27.68
So 1 PSI = 27.68 inches of water
and
27.68 inches of water = 70.3072 CM of water [27.68 x 2.54cm]
and
70.3072 CM of water = 703.072 MM of water
SO...
1 PSI = 703.072 MM of water...

THUS, 25 PSI = 17,576.8 MM of water

-------------------------------
Conclusion:

MM of water = [(PSI)(703.072)]
PSI = [(MM of water)/(703.072)]
-------------------------------

Yeah! I can sleep easy now...

Perfect

By:
April 18, 2012

I haven't purchased a new pair of ski pants in sooo long as I have such a difficult time finding a decent fit for both my short body and small pocket book, but these pants fit both perfectly! Since I'm quite short, I was able to shorten these pants as there weren't alot of fancy zippers, etc on the bottom edge. I love having the extra pockets in the pants and the brown color was perfect match to my new ski jacket by a different company!!! I'm very happy with them even tho the waist sits a little low... I'll remember to wear longer turtle neck next season!

Too low cut at the waist

By:
April 9, 2012

For my liking, it was too low cut, letting cold air, etc. in. I ended up returning them for this reason only. Otherwise, they were a good fit.

Almost Perfect

By:
February 1, 2012

I thought I finally found the perfect pant for my Size small 35" inseam body. It is nearly impossible to find Snowboard pants long enough. I would easily give them 5 stars except for the velcro at the snap waist. Why on earth would you want Velcro and a snap closure? I spend hundreds on good base layers only to have them snagged by Velcro.

Bar Tab closure - no Velcro would be PERFECT!

Great ski pant

By:
January 14, 2012

I am petite, 5' 1" and 100 lbs, so it is was difficult to find ski pants that actually fit. These pants fit very well and were very warm and comfortable.

nice but not warm

By:
January 4, 2012

I got these for cold days because they are inulated but I wore them on a cold 20 degree day and found them to be chilly.. I have 3 pair of shell pants and I was looking for a warm pair but these are not the warm ones. I have a pair of boy"s spider pants that fit the bill.. I guess I'm back to the kids section again
