The North Face Chugach 12 Winter Backpack - 753cu in

Item # TNF6460

Backcountry minimalists rejoice: The North Face Chugach 12 is ready for adventure. You typically don't bring the kitchen sink along when touring. Just the essentials will do, which is why The North Face designed the Chugach with a generously large avy tools pocket and the Hinch tuck-away ski/snowboard carry.

  • The North Face-exclusive Bombastic nylon—the same stuff they use in airbags— provides ultimate abrasion resistance and features a PU/silicone DWR finish
  • High-abrasion zones in the front are reinforced for extra durability
  • Backcountry essentials checklist helps you keep track of necessities in case you have a brain fart
  • Insulated hydration sleeve in the shoulder harness means you have water nearby when you work up a sweat on your ascent

Bottom Line:

Light in weight, heavy on readiness.

Great size & fit

this is a great bag for carrying ski & snowboard equipments with you. it is a low profile bag that doesn't bother you on the lift chair. I wish it could hold 3 liters bladders too but the bladder pocket is made for 2 liters ones.

Great in and out of bounds pack

By:
February 23, 2012

I initially picked this pack up to be my inbounds pack for carrying the on mountain essentials like fluids, goggle changes, snacks, lunch, and whatever else might be needed. I have since started using it for some light slack country and back country skinning. The pack is absolutely perfectly sized. Its not to big that you feel uncomfortable on the lift, but its big enough to get everything you might need for hard charging powder day. The ski carry is really quick and really easy to use. Since I got this pack, I don't use my bigger mountain hardwear wayback pack for anything other than storage.
