Terry Bicycles Tailwind - Women's - 2011 BCS

Item # TRY0001

Terry is committed to creating bikes that fit women properly, and the Tailwind is no exception. By utilizing different sizes of wheels and tires in the front and rear of the bike, Terry is able to shorten the effective top tube beyond what is geometrically possible with a 700c or 650c tire. The 700c rear wheel, however, ensures that you aren't doing extra gear-inch math every time you want to change cassettes or chainrings. The full front-to-back Shimano 105 group provides precise, consistent shifting, and optimal power transfer, and Alex rims laced to Shimano 105 hubs make for a durable but lightweight wheelset.

Bottom Line:

Finally, one that fits!

The XXS/42x50 has a 700c rear and 24" (600c) front. It looks just like the "grey" picture. I have one in my garage waiting for spring!
From the geometry page on Terry's website: "The 42 x 50 size has 24" front (ISO 520)/700c rear wheels; 42 x 52 size has 650c wheels (ISO 571) front and rear; all other sizes have 700c wheels front and rear."

Terry Needs to Improve "Middle" Size Zone

Beautiful bike and very well made with nice components. I ordered the 42x52 which felt a little small so had to return it. Unfortunately, I fall in between the 42x52 and 48x52 sizes being only about 5'1".

Department of Goods was very courteous about the return.
You might want to take a picture of the bike on the cardboard insert before unpacking. It took me quite a while to get it positioned on the packaging so it would fit properly and be secured like it was sent. I was sad it didn't work out.

Not Terry's fault, DoG is selling off last year's leftovers in whatever sizes/colors are left. Check Terry's website for the full range of sizes www.terrybicycles.com

You seem to not inform shoppers on sizing very well. The sizes are metric and some off the description list xxs xs s so I have no idea what a small is exactly? Please let me know what the frame size is that has a smaller front wheel? It would also be good to list the stand over dimension for each size frame. Thanks

The information you seek is available, the wheel size is included with the bike size in the drop-down menu when you go to choose your item, and there is a link to the geometry table right above it. The confusing sizing seems to originate from Terry; while they sell the bikes by the STxTT size, if you look for a label on the bike itself you'll find XXS, XS, etc., not sure why. FYI, contrary to the description, the XS/42x52 size has 650c wheels front and rear, not front only.
