If you are like most cyclists, then you probably look like a walking billboard for Energy Gels, GPS', or worst of all Microbrews. While this is great for visibility's sake, if you're 250 lbs, no one mistakes you for Jeremy Roy, even in your FDJ polka dot jersey and white bibs... Do you wear a full matching Lakers kit when you play pick up hoops? Doubtful...but hey, don't go out back and burn your FAT TIRE jersey just yet.
Here's what I'm getting at: when I breeze past your club ride up the PV Switchbacks wearing this jersey, your ego will remain in tact because you might not even notice me! If you aren't on the team or getting paid to advertise, you may wish to join my movement of letting your riding do the talking.
That said, this jersey is extremely comofortable ON ME. If you aren't built like me, you may not be interested. I'm 5'8/167 with a big chest, shoulders, and arms. I wear a 32-34 waist in pants and this is the first jersey that fits well everywhere without being too restrictive (though you must roll the sleeves up to keep your farmer's tan sexy, if you care about that). Size Large race cut jerseys with elastic sleeves cut the circulation off in my arms, and size medium club cut jerseys look like blouses around my waist. I wish it was an inch shorter (or, better yet, that I was an inch taller), but other than that the Large fits like butter. If you have some baggage around the waist, you might not like this jersey, ditto if you've had your biceps removed to shave a few grams. If you are a multisport athlete, or you hit the gym more than the road, you will love this fit.
Lastly, I think Swobo is a cool company that bridges the gap between smooth legged roadies, and skinny jean legged hipster-fixters. If you find yourself trying to fit in somewhere in the wide world of cycling, you might just enjoy this jersey as much as I do.
I bought two black Merino 753 jerseys after I bought two silver ones. Turns out they are totally different- the garment tag on the black ones says 23% merino, 77% polyester, but the garment tag on the silver one (as well as my medium green "grass" one) says 77%merino, 23% polyester, yeah, just the opposite. Looks like Swobo was experimenting with different fabric blends, or the supplier made a big mistake. In any case, the silver and grass colored "753" ones are the real McCoy, and feel fresher, resilient, and more natural than the black 23% merino "753". The 23% merino feels more like any other bike jersey, a bit more breathable than most but a bit plastic feeling after a really hot sweaty ride. On the other hand, I give the silver and green ones 5 stars. Fit: the L is very snug but okay at 6'1" long torso, 44" chest, 34" waist.
Great material, just enough wool, could be more form fitting around chest, gets a bit sloppy in the wind. Don't understand why as material is stretchy enough to be tighter without being binding.
The good: The fabric is very soft, and feels great against the skin. This thing rejects heat very well and has some superb wicking. Although i bought the black jersey, this is the coolest cycling jersey i own in terms of temperature. So overall, performance is great.
The bad: The fit is....well, weird. The bottom is really tight, which is fine, but the top is baggy around the chest and the sides. Also, the sleeves are very long, they almost go down to the elbow. It is hard to not look a little goofy in this jersey, unless you happen to be a cyclist that is pretty jacked in the chest/back.
Bottomline: If you are more into performance than style, buy this jersey off of bonktown ($37) - I would not pay the DoG price. For reference on fit, i am 5'10 -140lbs and medium is the correct size for me. I would not recommend this for people carrying a little extra around the midsection, this jersey will not fit well at all.
