Sugoi RSE Shorts - Men's - 2011 BCS

Item # SUG0571

Sugoi designed the RSE Short with a 10-panel anatomical fit that feels like a second skin. Advanced FXE chamois technology wicks moisture away and cushions hours of road vibration. Sugoi also gave the RSE flat seams to reduce irritation and a generous 8-inch inseam and leg grippers so you don't look like a bikini model after your ride.

Bottom Line:

Modesty intact, reputation still spotless.

Good Fit

By:

Good fit, much better than my similarly priced pearls. I've used them on up to 70 mile rides and havent had any comfort issues yet either. My only gripe is the labels started peeling off after about three washes, which is disappointing to say the least for a pair of shorts at this price point.

My worst pants ever!

By:
October 28, 2011

I ride good amount of miles (including centuries), I have many pants, some better than others but the general rule is you get what you pay for. Well the rule stopped working for me as I wasn't expecting the top of the line pants of what considered a good brand to injure me every time I use it. Let me stress that mine as the previous model however the chamois is the same and that is where the main problem is! Besides the point that all the logos started peeling off after 2 washes, the pants are attractive and look good on you. On the design side, it seems like Sugoi were more interested in making the chamois attractive than agronomic! So this FXE pad has different heights of cushioning that look like a topography map, the problem is all these pumps create ridges that are just unnecessary friction points, and boy, did they shred me! On easy club rides didn't experience any real problem, but going hard solo all out tucked in position, they chaffed the hell out of my poor bum. And that was only a short hour and a half ride! Something that never happened to me by any pants. Even the seams that they call Flat seam are weirdly located on an embossed perimeter that also exposes the seam rather than level it. All in all, bad experience for me. Pants going back!

Chamois needs some break in

By:
November 17, 2011

Shorts fit very well. As mentioned in another review, these shorts have a draw string. I find that the draw string helps (slightly) to keep the back of the asymmetric cut in place. One gripe alluded to in the review title - the chamois needs some break in to "soften" in places, but nothing like an old suede chamois.

Great Shorts!

Was having some trouble with chafing on long rides using some cheap liners that came with other shorts. Got these and just wear them under my baggy shorts. Problem solved.

I'd give them 6 stars

By:
August 9, 2011

I have used Sugoi RS for the past 2 seasons and previously gave them 5-stars. Just switched to RSE's and they are much better and worth the extra $'s (and a star). The Chamois/padding is excellent and really feels better over the long haul (centuries). The RSE material is lighter weight than any other short I have tried and better on hot days. They have replaced the RS's silicon elastic on the cuffs with a superior lycra elastic that doesn't irritate like the RS and fits much better than the Louis Garneau Carbon Lazer equivalent (which ride up).

The sizing is the same as the RS (a slim cut) with more compression. They have cut the front lower than the rear so it is a better cycling posture fit.

My only gripe is that they have an overly long draw string which I haven't figured out why and what to do with.

Great shorts. Very comfortable! A little spendy but completely worth it especially if you can find them on sale.
