Stoic Microlith Softshell Pullover - Men's

Item # SIC0074

From spring skin tracks to post-work trail runs in autumn foliage, the lightweight, highly breathable Stoic Men's Microlith Softshell Pullover likes to get after it when there's a nip in the air. Stoic's fully welded, dynamic Microlith softshell fends off nature's cold and wet side without restricting movement, and the lightweight construction won't weigh you down or hold you back. Replacing the need for a temperature-regulating midlayer or a just-in-case shell, the extremely breathable Stoic Microlith Pullover wants to take over as your favorite shoulder-season softshell.

Bottom Line:

Sleek, lightweight, and element-shunning: the optimal shoulder-season softshell.

Stretchy and athletic

By:
June 27, 2012

This is one of my favorite pieces of outerwear for spring and fall. It's just enough to fight the chill in the morning or evening and it's easy to carry when I don't need it. A short shower will bead off it and it blocks the wind admirably. I am 6'3" 170 and I love the trim fit of the medium. The arms are long enough and it's just close fitting enough to not get in the way. Get it. You won't regret it.

Nice stretchy material that moves when I need to move, mat he'd with a nice fit. A little too lightweight for what I was expecting, but a good product nonetheless.

Is this piece similar in fabric and usage to the Backcountry.com

Is this piece similar in fabric and usage to the Backcountry.com Rime pullover? Love my Rime and have been waiting for a replacement piece from Stoic. Any observations and comparisons between the Rime and the Microlith pullover would be greatly appreciated (sleeve length, fit/cut, etc). Thanks.

Slightly different fabrics on the inside and outside and the Microlith does have the longer arms. I've fixed the arm length issue on previous Stoic jackets by folding the ends of the sleeves in and Aqua Sealing them to my desired length. It is missing the soft micro fleece that the Rime had, but is still worth getting if you loved your Rime. The Microlith also has a bungee system around the waist which I don't think is necessary (I never use them on any jacket), The Rime doesn't have that.

Hey Sam, does it have the same obnoxiously long arms as most Stoic stuff? I find their arm length is generally about two inches longer than most other manufacturers.

I got it and it fits me well. I don't know about the rime because I don't have it, but it looks remarkably similar (because it's all backcountry). Sleeve length is nice and long, and it doesn't swallow me in the chest. I have a 40 inch chest and the fit of this is pretty on point.

Amazing protection against the wind. Light enough for spring workouts. Athletic cut.

What I wanted

By:
March 2, 2012

I am a muscular 5'11 185lbs and got a M. This pullover looks great. Fits like a glove. I can wear a shirt under it and that's all so size up if you want to layer. It makes me look like a superhero. Love it. The sleeves are long but just fine. They are not articulated so with the M when I put my arms over my head it does ride up but I am happy to live with that. Haven't worn it in the rain yet but what water has hit it so far has beaded and run right off.

very nice

just got one of these the other day and so far I like it it fits well Im 6'1 200 and the large is a good fit. The extra length on the sleeves is not an issue either. from some other reviews I thought there would be a lot of material but hardly noticeable. I would say that this is athletic fit so that you can get it under a shell if need be but there is plenty room for a tshirt under it. If you want anything bigger than a T under it then size up.

Nearly unbeatable

This coat is fantastic for mild weather conditions. As a professional athlete I find it a perfect solution for outdoor training when the weather is just a bit too cool for a t-shirt. Its a real nice fit, not too baggy which is great for jogging, biking etc. Surly one of my favorite Stoic pullovers.

Great mid layer

By:
August 10, 2011

This is a great layer for 60 degree days. Surprisingly warm for how thin and light it is. The material is also a bit stretchy which make it very comfortable. I am 5'10", 155lbs, and the large fits great. I do have longer than average arms... A medium might be good for someone with shorter arms.

Not as good as the BC Rime but is still good

I own the Backcountry.com Rime Pullover and love it! I use it when camping and canyoneering. It is getting a little worn out so I got the Microlith Pullover hoping it was the same thing. It is very similar but is missing the soft layer of Micro fleece on the inside. It's still a great jacket but I really like Micro Fleece in the Rime and many color options the Rime had to offer. The Microlith also has a bungee system around the waist which I don't think is necessary (I never use them on any jacket).

How does this compare with the Arcteryx Accellero? It sounds like it might be a similar weight etc.
