Like everyone else has pointed out, this jacket it super warm and ultra lightweight--ideal for traveling. However, the sizing runs a little small. I ordered a small initially and it was a just a tad too snug, a smidgen short in the arms, and slightly difficult to pull over my head (I am 5'8'' and 130lbs). After an easy exchange via DOG (Department of Goods), the medium was PERFECT! I even have some extra length in the arms, which is rare for these monkey limbs. Also, the dark jade color is very nice and not too bright. Overall great jacket, I've slept in it, climbed in it, and traveled in it, and can't wait to ski in it this winter!

I researched women's down jackets for appx 3 weeks before I decided to go with this one. I am really happy with this purchase. I wanted something that could brave the Montana winter without the bulk of most 800 fill coats. This jacket is light, compacts nicely (I stuff it all into the pocket), and is toasty warm. It is long in the arms and torso, averting the infamous buttcrack flash while bending down. I get compliments on it every time I wear it. One thing to note, this coat is super warm-not for moderate climates. It would be nice if it zipped down the middle to let out the heat as the day warms up...but the buttons are dang cute! Some people are concerned it is too 'crinkly' (loud) when I take it off in class. Truth be told, I don't even care, I love it and don't think it's that noisy. All in all, it's a great price, good quality, ultra light, warm, and unique. I'm about 5'7" and 140lbs and I wear the medium so I can wear layers underneath.
This looks like a great jacket for ultralight packs. Can you
This looks like a great jacket for ultralight packs. Can you please weigh this jacket and post it's weight for at least a reference size M (ideally, post weights for each size). That would be amazing! Thanks.

I got my gf a size small, and it's just over 6 oz total. Seems rediculously light in the hand, like it could blow away.

Yes this is everything good everyone else said about it. It is warm, cute, fits well, packs small and best of all it's onlyt 8 ounces. I do not find it noisy as some others said. I definetly recommend.
Perfect for Ultralight, Almost Perfect for Performance
December 7, 2011
I've been doing a lot of packable down jacket testing lately looking for the best one under $200 (retail or sale price). This is in the top 2.
This is a very, very good jacket. It's not quite perfect, but it has a lot going for it. It's warm, comfy, immune to light rain and snow, and weighs next to nothing. If you are a stickler for weight, I think this is the absolute best jacket for you. (If you're curious, it blows Patagonia's Ultralight Hoody out of the water for warmth.) However, if you're looking for the best warmth and performance in under 16oz, this is *almost* the best.
The fabric is slightly noisy (but not too annoying). I think it's a fair trade off considering how little the fabric weighs (30g/m^2 according to the tag - wow!).
I was worried about wind getting in between the top buttons, but somehow Stoic has designed the jacket so that's not a problem at all! I'm very impressed!
Stoic was also smart when they included a small amount of down between the pocket and the body of the jacket. It keeps the pocket from letting a lot of heat out of the openings even when it's windy out(which was a big problem in some other jackets I've tested).
I do wish there was a drawstring or an extra button in the hood so you can close out the wind. If there is no wind, the hood is very comfy as is. If there is wind, you'll unfortunately have to hold the hood closed by hand.
Please come out with different colors! The chartreuse and grey are so limited and don't look great on everyone.
If the jacket were updated with new colors and an extra button for the hood, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I think it would then even beat the performance of Patagonia's Down Sweaters...which is saying a lot since that's the favorite packable down for so many people.

Why oh why are you discontinuing this line of gear?
This is one of my very favorite pieces. I purchased one for me and one for my husband. We looove them. They're super light, pack down to nothing, and are very warm. The "kangaroo" pouch is great helping save weight, sans extra zippers.
We're going to take very good care of these so they last us years to come.
No sacrifices for ultralightness!

This thing rocks. I also own the nano puff and this thing adresses every issue I have with that jacket. It weighs significantly less, is longer, and even has a hood! I love it.
tight around hip
March 21, 2012
This fit except around the hip I am returning for a different type. I wanted a light down and sweater type that I got my husband. Hopefully the second one will be it. Felt so warm though which is one of the reasons I wanted it.
Light, warm, awesome
March 6, 2012
When I saw this jacket on my tall skinny friend, I knew I wanted one too. I have long arms and torso, and hate bare wrists and "tummy drafts". I got one of the men's versions for my husband too. We wear them every day, 0-25 degrees F, and even inside a chilly office every now and then. Only drawbacks are the lack of secure pockets, the snaps are harder to deal with than a zipper, especially with mittens on, and the hood could be a little snugger for windy days. But it still gets 5 stars from me for warmth, light weight, fit, value, and good looks. And the handwarmer pocket is really nice and warm, just make sure your snacks don't fall out.
Light and Warm
February 7, 2012
I was concerned that its light weight wouldn't be able to really keep me warm but I was happily surprised. It's longer in the arms and torso than regular jackets, which is OK.
I'm 5'5", 130 lbs and got the small; perfect fit. Room for 2 layers under-neath -shirt and fleece, w/o adding bulk. Love the green.
Completes my ensemble

Light weight, comfortable, warm and too cute. Have a helmet to match and your're "stylin".
Pretty Sweet Jacket
January 6, 2012
This jacket is toasty warm and I love the green color. I do wish that it had a zipper pocket and zipper front closure but the buttons are cute. I originally bought the medium but had to return as it would not allow me to layer and was a bit tight in the shoulders and mid section. I exchanged it for a large that fits well. I was a bit worried as I'm short and all the other reviewers said the sleeves were long. They're long, but not so long that they get in the way. For the record I'm 5'2" 135lbs. It does discharge a lot of static electricity when putting on and taking off.
Interesting design, just didn't fit quite right
January 2, 2012
I ordered a medium based on other reviews. I'm 5'8" and around 140 lbs and the jacket was just a little too snug around the chest and waist. Might have been okay with just a t-shirt on, but for serious winter weather there would be no way to layer more. Ended up returning it. Color was great and quality looked pretty good.
Not sure about the snaps on the chest though. They worked well, but I was almost afraid I was going to tear the fabric trying to undo them. If your idea of keeping warm on a cold winter night involves bodice-ripping, I would suggest a sturdier jacket that could withstand the carnal forces...

Ive worn this jacket in 10 degree weather & also 50 degree weather. It breaths great and keeps me warm and happy. I can't believe that it's 850-fill down, It is half the size of other 850-fill down coats out there on the market. This is so lightweight, I can already tell this is going to be a perfect addition to camping and traveling.
It fits great and runs true to size. If you want to look like an oversized sack then go ahead and size up but I don't recommend it.
The only downfall is that I need to bring a static guard with me when I take this jacket on and off (my hair gets ridiculous when i pull this off)
Score this jacket before it sells out because it is the perfect jacket for your outdoorsy lifestyle
Nice Active Down
December 11, 2011
This sweater is very comfortable and easy to move in. I barely notice I'm wearing it. I have the chartreuse color and it is slightly see-through meaning that you can see the down through it. As I'm using this for ski purposes I don't really care. I'm 5'0", 120 lbs and the small fits nicely with room to put a silk weight top underneath for added warmth.
December 8, 2011
This jacket wins! What has really won me over is the fit. I'm 5' 7" and 125lbs, with long arms. I have a hard time finding jackets that fit just right, usually for the body of the jacket to fit, the sleeves or torso length come up short and sizing up means its swimming around my midsection. Not on this one, the small fits me perfectly. I even have room to hide my hands in the sleeves! This is a pretty big deal for me.
As many other reviewers have attested this jacket is pretty warm for the weight. The fabric is loud, but I don't care considering how light it is and how well it fits. Also, I think it's a pretty ideal weight for layering under a shell for super cold temps.
Furthermore, I think the styling and colors are awesome, and this thing puts my old down sweater to shame.
November 25, 2011
Had this a few weeks now and I love it! I'm 5'10" and the sleeves of the medium are long on me, but I'm not complaining, this is a rare occurrence. Stoic sizes seem to run long! The excalibur color is definitely a purplish grey which I love much more than the black-like color I thought I was getting. The exterior seems much more durable than my down sweater of another bigger brand. The only improvement I would suggest is that it pack in to itself somehow or at least come with it's own stuff sack.
Live in this for winter
November 22, 2011
I bought this a few months ago and immediately everyone at work wanted one (I work outdoor enviro ed where outdoor gear sometimes seems more a pastime than, well, being outdoors...)- I was glad to find it first! Excalibur is a very flattering color.
It does run very fitted, but I love the movement allowance in the shoulders/arms-great for biking. Long sleeves are cozy, and packs very small.
Important to keep clean and h20-proofed, the material IS very noisy and seemed flimsy but haven't had a tear.
Almost want to get the other color! Please keep this product around, Stoic!
great fit for tall & slim gals
November 9, 2011
Am amazed by the warmth it provides in a lightweight & compactable package. Did a test walking the dogs at 0 F and only wore a lightweight 3/4 sleeve shirt underneath and was plenty warm for the entire 45 minutes--with the hood up. Generously long sleeve length--I'm 5'11" (& 140 lbs) with monkey arms and I have length to spare in the women's medium. Can't beat the deal I got on Steep & Cheap, at $99 this piece definitely can't be beat. Only minor beef, material is a little noisy with movement.
Great down pullover
October 28, 2011
Super light, keeps you warm, what else can you want.
I got my GF a small, and it fits her nicely (a tad on the short side in the torso, but only slightly) for reference she is 5'8" and 115lbs, with long arms. It's so light and packs down really small. It's no the warmest down jacket out there, but does the job, and if the temperature really dips you can always throw a shell overtop to keep you toasty.
As a warmth insurance for ski trips, or hiking in the shoulder seasons, for the price I doubt you can beat it.
November 3, 2011
Love how light it is, the kangaroo pocket is fun! Its a different feel than any other down pull over. Love it!!
Love at First Sight
November 2, 2011
I just received my Stoic Hadron Down Anorak and I'm already in love. This jacket has everything I have been looking for in a down jacket: hoody, pull over, big front pocket to keep hands warm and use as a quick stash, cute design, vibrant color and extremely lightweight!
A fantastic jacket!
October 29, 2011
Every time I wear this coat I get complements, so if you're looking for a down jacket that doesn't make you look like the Michelin Man, this is definitely it! On the practical side, it's lightweight and packable, super comfortable and easy to move in. I've worn it hiking and it's the perfect layer for the way down when you're sweaty. I can't wait until the snow flies, so I can take it skiing.
