Spy Soldier Goggle

Item # SPY0221

Slap on the Spy Soldier Goggles and scout a safe route through snow-man's land. The Soldier delivers a flexible fit and fog-free vision so you can unleash the badness with crystal-clear vision. Spy's Scoop ventilation and Gemini dual-lens technology eliminate lens fogging so you can spot the drop zone even in the gnarliest weather. Anti-fog and anti-scratch coating keep you glued to your mission, and total UV protection saves your eyes for life after the force. Triple-layer foam and moisture-wicking fleece feel so good against your face, you may end up wearing these goggles off the base.

Great Fit! Medium Face!

By:
December 23, 2011

Lenses are pretty scratch resistant and never fog on me during use, even whem I'm wearing my face mask (when positioned properly). Persimmion is a decent lens and the Acid Pills color is wicked. Frames aren't enormous, but they give you surprisingly good peripherals when worn. Strap never slips and the layer of silicone on the strap is great!

The tri-foam is mega plush and feels so soft and comfortable against your skin. I've never had an issue with the bridge of my nose, cheeks, or forehead getting sore or cold with these on. The goggle is softer and molds right to the shape of my face. Venting is solid and my face is never cold either. I normally use them with contacts, but my glasses even fit inside them if I'm being lazy or spur of the moment (smaller frames).

4 stars only since I know there are better goggles out there.

You have good peripheral on these. I have 2 pairs myself, but just because I love the fit on my face. You have greater peripheral on the Omegas, but I did not like them as they foged and froze over on me. But the Soldier has been my go-to goggle for 5 years now. Venting is awesome, fit is comfy, and over all just a great goggle

Great goggles but if you have a narrow face you might want to stick with Oakley A-Frames

By:
February 9, 2010

These goggles are a great looking and performing pair of goggles. They work well with or without a helmet and never have problems fogging up.

They are however not for someone with a narrowface. While they are comfortable, there is a feeling right around the cheekbones that they are not full sealed. If you have a narrow face and you need to have a pair of goggles that fits extremely tight around your face ,the Oakley a-frames are a better choice.

Nevertheless, i switch between soldiers/aframes regularly and love both of them!

The strap is not interchangeable, it attaches to the frame with a plastic piece that permanently holds it in place.

That said, I really like the strap that came with the goggle, the silicone strip locks it down on hair hat or helmet, the adjustment system is easy to use, and the width of the strap helps disperse load to make it comfortable.

hope that was a help

By:
January 23, 2011

These goggles are NOT sweet. They are WAY worse than my last pair of goggles, which cost $25 at Costco. They fog up -bad- and scratch easily. I wore them twice and already the lenses have several small scratches on them. Worst of all, they fog up really easily. Yesterday was an awesome powder day, my best day of the season so far. But I spent the entire day fighting the fog on these goggles. By the afternoon I gave up and skied without them, even though it was dumping and I kept getting snow in my eyes. At first I thought maybe it was the conditions but none of my friends were having issues. So despite the awesome deal I got on these gogs from Backcountry, back they go.

Super comfy

By:
December 29, 2010

These goggles are great! they are extremely comfy and never fog up. The venting system works like a charm. I wore these goggles yesterday and they worked beautifully. Some things I would point out if you are looking to purchase these goggles is be aware of the different tints. I got the permission lens which is S1 for low levels of light, they were great for dusk/night boarding or just a cloudy day on the mountain. However I have worn these in bright light conditions and they worked fine as long as your not staring at the sun, but that's still not what an S1 lens is meant for. Another thing is although these goggles say they fit a medium/large face size, I do not think a large face size would fit as comfortably. I have a very slender medium face size and they fit snug, I am not confident they would still fit me with a large face size. These are not faults in the item just things to refer to when buying. I will still give the item 5 stars for performance. Also these goggles look pretty sick for the price.

Perripheral vision is clear as day, and they never fog up. I have a slimmer face and they fit like a glove, and never bother me or move around on my face. Super cush foam and never gets itchy even after bailing on a 30ft drop to a pow sandwich in the face and goggles flying everywhere haha. I would say that the persimmon lens is probably your best bet, for an all-purpose lens. It has a high contrast for low or flat light, and still blocks enough for medium bright days. The Blue Spectra does cut glare, but if the sun is bright enough to glare bad enough for that to be necessary in a low light level lens, just switch out to the dark one you already have.

These goggles are hands down the best that I have ever owned! They look amazing and they function great as well (no fogging and they are very comfortable). I purchased the Asphalt-Matte with blue spectra mirror lenses and they look incredible, especialy in the sun. The reason why I'm not giving them five stars is that they cost so freakin' much and when I tryed to use them with my snowmobile helmet there was a little air gap in the top where the goggles didn't quite touch my face. This was no biggie though because I have an older pair of Spy Targas that fit my helmet just fine. overall these goggles are great and work superbly in all lighting conditions. I recommend them and I'm sure that you will be as stoked about them as I am.

FOG NO MORE!

By:
November 30, 2009

I bought these goggles in 2009, and thus far have been extremely satisfied.
Peripheral vision is great. Fit wise, I have a narrow nose and face and find the frame fits comfortably and still provides a solid seal. Venting is great and fogging has been non-existent, even on slow, lazy days at the hill.
The bronze lenses work great in sunny to party sunny conditions, however I find they lack in overcast and snow features all but disappear. (this is what the available, interchangeable lenses are for though!)
All in all a great pair of goggles!

Sick Goggles

By:
August 21, 2009

I'm Asian and I would say I have a small face. These goggles are a perfect fit. I love how it's vented so there isn't any fogging unlike other googles (trust me, it makes a huge difference). It has all day comfort, and is one of the best looking goggles I've ever come across. At this price, it's a steal. Buy them

Wish I was a little smaller...

By:
July 21, 2009

Not really, but if I was, my Soldiers would look cooler. Sometimes I think these look sort of like those Geax watersport-sunglass-goggles on my bigger face, and would probably best suit someone with a small to medium face. Only very slight fogging issue, very comfortable, fairly durable, and the hinged strap fixture is awesome. Under $75 would be a fair price.

Struck Gold!

By:
July 10, 2009

I have not had the chance to take this nugget for a test run since it’s summer and all. Although it feels as good as it looks. I got the Gold Fronts-Bronze w/Gold Mirror it’s a little more “bling” than I usually go for but if I can rock these you probably can too. They look as amazing and ridiculous in person as they do online. If you are going for aesthetics this is it; otherwise I have not had a chance to test its performance.

Nice!!

These are a great pair of goggles. Spy makes an awesome product and this is one of them. In 5 years I spent well over $150 buying a brand new cheap pair of goggles right before every season. I finally realized that was stupid and I bought these goggles. I just finished up with my 3rd season with Spy Soldiers and they are still as good as when I got them. They NEVER fog up, they circulate air very nicely, and hold up well through a face plant (trust me, it hurt). Get these goggles. They may seem a little expensive, but you will save time/money/hassle in the long run. Trust me.

Spy Soldier Goggles

By:
May 10, 2009

Pretty nice goggles. I have a wide face and they are a pretty snug fit, and contrary to what others have said I have had no problems with fogging. Plain and simple, the goggles just worked well and got the job done for me.

Spy Goggles - Sweet!

By:
March 16, 2009

I bought these as a second pair for my recent trip to Heavenly. They were great and quickly became my go to goggles. Fit snuggly over my Giro Helmet and were great in the cold with no fogging. Had a few issues when using in fresh powder as they got a little damp and fogged with ice forming on the top vents!!

Overall love them, but make sure you try to keep them free of snow on the top vent otherwise you will fog and really hard to de-fog on the top of a mountain with snow blowing.

By:

These goggles are great. I just wore them skiing in co in about every condition imaginable. They worked good in high and low light. Also good when it was snowing. I took a couple of good wipeouts and they seem pretty durable also.

Sweet a$$ Goggles!

By:
February 27, 2009

These spy soldier goggles were the first pair of goggles I bought and I freaking love them. I have never had them fogging up on me and I have had them for 4 weeks now! Plus, I had alot of compliments on how bada$$ the goggles looked! And also, the goggles are comfortable as well, molded right onto my face! If you wanna look tight while shredding powder/ice, get these spy soldier goggles now!

February 18, 2009

got half price for these googles at Sportsbasement in San Francisco. fell in love the very first time I saw it. I have the Black Matte/ Silver Mirror pairs and they are sick! Got a lot of compliments from my buddies and even strangers too. Vision is pretty good and fits well on my face. I suggest that you try them on first before you purchase it since googles are not really one size fits all sort of thing. You may or you may not like it but I LOVE THEM!!! I'm not that good yet at snowboarding but hey I look good on these!!!!

Sold my oakleys

Wasnt impressed with the crowbars (pinched my nose, lenses costly). I love these soldiers though. Persimmon lens is pretty good, lots of contrast. I also bought a yellow lens for flat days, and it works ok but i now want to try the rose shade. LOng live Spy. I'll probably buy another pair with a mirrored bright light lens.

great across the board

By:

these gogs are sweet on all levels. at first i thought the peripheral vision might not be that good beause the frames are on the smaller side, but they actually wrap enough so that you get great vision to the sides. no fogging issues and the lenses are holding up well.

Nice but...

By:
January 7, 2009

The Spy Soldiers are really nice goggles over all. Lots of nice details and big thick foam. Lenses seem to be top notch.

However, there are two issues, one large and one small. These Goggles just didn't fit my face. I don't have a very large face but when I wore these they pushed down on my nose and made it slightly uncomfortable to breath. The real issue was that the goggles are rather narrow and thus needed to stretch around my face.

The other issue is really minor but actually drove me crazy. One of the black plastic strap adjusters is put on backwards. It is also curves and just felt odd as it curved away from my head.

VERY NICE GOGGLES!!!

By:
October 3, 2008

These goggles are sick! The first time I saw them I said I just got to have them. I Thought that these goggles are very stylish and the lense in butiful, nice clear and clean lense. I Especally like the rubber strip of the back of strap, it makes it so the goggles never fall off your helmet. Overall, very nice goggles for the price!! Totaly worth it!

No More Fog

By:
October 21, 2008

After skiing with these goggles for 2 seasons, I can give them an emphatic 10/10. They fit my average face perfect, look good, stick to my head and they rarely fog up. The foam feels very good against my face.

meh...

By:
January 12, 2009

i'm not really sure why these goggles are rated so high, they actually looked kind of cheap (sloppy plastic molding). i loaned mine to a buddy, third run of the day, he landed on his face and they just broke, the only thing holding the hinges to the frame is a weak piece of plastic; I also have a pair of Spy Targa II's and they're alot nicer, the periferal vision's a little better and they seem to be built better;
