The Sorel Mad Boot Lace combines classic '50s style with modern functionality.
- Rich burnished leather deals with rain and sleet as you stroll the city streets or small-town avenues
- Leather lining adds durability
- Outsole takes its design from the 1980s Sorel Pro Flex snowboard boot for comfort and traction

I dig it...but watch out for the color discrepancy

There's not much to not like about Sorel boots in general. They are typically burly in construction with style to boot (pun intended). The Mad Boot follows the same tradition with stylish upgrade of a classic winter boot, with rich burnished leather and classic snowboard boot like outsole. It's also pretty darn comfy. Only design feature I'm not quite sold on is the way the laces are setup...the lengthier lace hooks make it a bit of a pain to adjust the lace lengths...but it's something I can live with. One thing to watch out for is the color. I can't vouch for others, but I got them in Chipmunk, and the color on Backcountry's website is a bit off (but the ones on Sorel's site are a bit off too...although there is one large picture of it with a guy wearing it that's pretty close). The "brown" is couple of shades darker than it looks on the website. The color of this particular boot is pretty difficult to generate accurately in pictures; it's very tough to get the white balance correct. I'm posting 3 pics, and the 2nd and 3rd pic is as accurate as I could get to the actual color of the chipmunk model. The first one is off in color, but shows you the whole boot in hopefully better detail than the one on the website. Also, due to the nature of the leather finishing process, one batch will look a bit different from the next in color, shade, and texture.

It's pretty good under moderate snow conditions. I'd say under heavy snow, you should go for Caribou or similar. To me, this is a good pair to take on a ski trip to walk about town where you are expected to see a little slush and ice - but not for anything deep. Hard to answer the leather questions, it's all relative. What is good is that it's burnished leather, hence already has that aged distressed look, so minor scratches shouldn't impact the look of the boots. Size is pretty accurate in length, probably wider than typical nikes. Also keep in mind how thick a sock you'll be rocking in these. I myself wear thicker wool socks when I'm wearing these, so I size up by 1/2.

Few questions for you.....
Does the boot keep your feet dry in the slushy snow?
Since they are leather do they scratch easily?
Is the size of the boot pretty accurate , to say wearing a nike shoe?
Change me.
