We recently received word that the Skullcandy Double Agent Headphones are on the loose, and are preparing to render your MP3 player useless with a massive dose of style and high-end sound. Fill up the included 1GB card or any standard SD card with your favorite tunes, plug it into the Double Agent’s top-secret compartment, and let the rocking commence—with no wires or music players to deal with. A 3.5mm audio cable plugs you in when you need, and an internal lithium ion battery runs the Double Agent for up to 8 hours, giving you plenty of time to complete the mission at hand with a full soundtrack.
They look great and the idea is solid. No wires, no iPod, no problems...?
No chance!
I had to take one set back. OK for me as I live in Park City (and I got hooked up with a pair of 2XLs that weren't out yet-gotta love The guys and gals at Skullcandy!) but for other people all over the world, the build quality isn't always up to standard.
They have a very thin film of plastic that has also peeled off them but what annoys me the most is the memory cards.
I have 2 Skullcandy SD cards and both do not like lots of songs. I have tried various ideas, changing the root menu etc, but it should not be this difficult.
I only paid like $50 for these new, and right now, until they sort out the firmware issues, that is all they are worth.
I would have given this 5 stars but I have had a couple of issues (these could be on my end however).
I bought these last May and have used them regularly at the gym. I HATE cords that tangle there so when I saw these on SAC for a wicked price of $20 I thought i would try them out.
I am pleasently surprised at the gym hwo well this unit functions. I tays in place for all bench presses, cardio and other exercises I perform. I just wish that this unit was helmet compatable for the ski slopes :)
Its very simple, no fancy screens to break. Just load a good playlist before hand as I found that the button are a little on the small side, but manageable.
I found the sound quality very good, but I dont listen to music at a high volume. There is a "click" between tracks when the track changes, but it is not even noticable at low volumes.
The only issue I have had so far is this, sometimes the unit will freeze. The lights will turn off, it will just make white noise and be unresponsive. I have corrected this by just hammering on the fast forward button so this could be an MP3 issue, but all the MP3's play fine on my PC.
I get complements all the time over these guys, and I would purchase again at the discounted price.
The Skullcandy Double Agents are my new best travel friend .... with built-in rechargeable battery and SD card, you can take your tunes where ever you go at the very minimalists of efforts! I always manage to 'misplace' my iPod which results in a minor freak-out and mini heart-attack. But with my Double Agents I have fewer things to pack and carry and most importantly less things to 'misplace'.
The sound quality on the Double Agent is great, not tingy like some other headphones i have tried. They do fit snug, but once you get used to them, and honestly you wouldn't want them to fit any looser, they feel snug.
It was fine~~ I rode whole day 9-4, it last for almost whole day (exclude 2hrs lunch break). On the other hand, batt is not the major matter, wrapping around my ear whole day burnt my ears.....:p Otherwise they are great for SB-ing~

Hello. I would like to know what kind of cable is required to charge the headphones. I ask because I have nowhere to buy a new one and no one sells them separately (even the official site!).
this headphone is excellent. I don't like music players like ipod, etc because i need to attach a wired headphone to it in order to enjoy the music. NO with this one. No strings attached. Exactly,it supports 4GB SD card carries over 200 songs around, with 40mm speakers, what else do you need? Just 1 double agent and you a re ready to go. cons: the play mode is weird.... it depends how i upload the songs, i'd always prefer a shuffle mode when snowboarding on the mountain.
Love the concept: wireless headphones with SD card carrying the music.
Sound: Between every single song, I hear a loud *pop* sound in my ears as the headphones browse to the next song. It makes the same sound a record player (remember those?) makes when you put the needle down. The *pop* really interrupts the flow of listening to a carefully organized playlist. The songs do sound good, and the bass is nice - strong but not overpowering.
Songs: The headphones don't recognize a number of my audio files until I convert them from mp4 to mp3. When the headphones try to play an mp4 file, I just get a long stretch of loud silence - several seconds of clicking. It would be handier just to take my iTunes files and put them on the card, rather than duplicating all of my music files so that I can play them in two different mediums.
Fit: I'm female and have a fairly big head for a girl - I always have to buy large hats - but these headphones are a little big for my head. They droop just a bit lower than would be preferable, which puts pressure on the top of my head. I can't adjust them any smaller. They also squeeze my head, which means I can't wear them for long periods of time.
Though I have a laundry list of complaints, I do enjoy the portability of the headphones and the sound quality of the songs.
*** an update afte about 1 1/2 month(s) the speakers are blown to crap and i have only been using then on normal house use ona bassicly normal volume the frame is preety strong on these ones which is surprising but the speakers are junk and i woudnt doubt it came from china. liek i said in my other review ill never buy sk's again and be for-warned if you thinking about buying some sk's these are patheticly made if you wnat headphiones that are only gonna last about a month get these if you want quality i highly highly reccomend a diffrent brand oh as well ive confrimed this with 5 difrent pairs seems to be a deffect tht the retrds at sk wont change the "L" and "R: for left adn right printed on the phones are wrong so the speakers are backwards rights is actully left and left is actully right its preety sad
so review of the double agents. 1st ill start of with the structure/integraty of these, due to the reptaton of skullcandy headphones always breaking. with the double agents this is not the case. these are very strong headphones there doesnt seem to be any weak breaking pints like most SK's the side bars are metal that connect the ear peices to the head strap(were most sk's break this pat actull is good quality and strong) 1 out of 10 for break factor 10 being superman n gona give these a 8.5. reason being... common superman these will break before superman does :P
now sound quality. not much to say other then awesome. great on the low mids and highs. overall quality is superb very happy with them.
and finally the sweet features of these eadphones no wires and built in mp3 player. the no wires is awesome very free to move around aggressivly if need be the heapphones are uncomfterble at fisrt but the fit tight and snug so they wont slip off. the mp3 plaayer is preety kool sorta like having an ipod shuffle built in. i did find however the controls/buttons to be a little small they look way bigger in the pictures on line but not a big deal. the SD card that comes with the headphnes is kool but i noticed its in the "fat" format i have no tried yet formating to ntsc and see if its supported or not but the sd card is a 1gb card thus with the fat format you actully really only get about 750-800 mb of data storage kind of a bummer in that sence but not really a negative. as well i found with the ear muffs being curved slightly it fits more naturlly to my head.
these hweadphones do come with a usb and a 3.5mm jack to usb for wen ur sd card is off u can listen to an ipod or w/e i also noticed that when its powered off is slightly charges when powered in to the ipod didnt seem to drain the ipod battery to bad this could be a postive t some and a negative to other more personal opinion. as well these head phones do fold up.
all in all though i give these SK's double agents a 9.5/10(reason for the .5 is the led gets annoying constantly flashing as it plays)
structure: 9/10 audio:9/10 features 9.5/10 color: :P
they are very sweet. really light, the ear cups are fold-able, so they are very compact/portable. they souldnt charge at first, but then i called skullcandy and discovered that the sd card was locked. its all good now. great sound qhality. only complaint is that the oval earcups are a little less comfy than the round ones, but they are still prety comfortable, and really sweet.
Yes you can use it for anything that the headphone jack will fit (3.5mm?).
However I will say this, the adaptor (for want of a better name) is like a camera charger and sticks out like a sore thumb. It is also prone to breaking as the inside is very fragile and can easily get caught. Mine did and I had to return it.
If you plan on using your iPod a lot with these headphones then I would tend to get another pair of Skullcandies
The Skullcandy double agent headphones are a really good pair of headphones but they also have some problems. I've been using these for a week now and at first I was really stocked off them but as time passed I started to see the down sides. Really quickly I'll list the pro's and con's. -First the ups. The sound quality is good, they are fairly comfortable, nice to have wires headphones, I like how they look and the idea and design behind them are sweet. -Now the down sides; -there's no shuffle on the MP3 player so you have to listen to the songs in the order you put them on. -When you are using the headphones with an i-pod or MP3 player, the 1.1 USB that goes into the headphones is not a good connect/design. It is lose and comes out very easily. -Also when I connect the headphones to the computer to charge, i have to hold in the 1.1 USB that connects to the headphones and slowly release it to make sure it will stay connected and charging. -The MP3 buttons on the headphone are hard to feel making it hard to control when using them wirelessly. Also the button get stuck and you have to mess with them to get them to release. This was my experience with these headphones. I hope this helps. I give it 2.5 stars but there is no option for that ;-)
I got my headphones and liked how they played with my old mp3 player. Loaded up the unit SD card with music and tested it on my old player. However, after charging the internal battery via USB port and loading the card, a few things happened.
First, the unit status light turned blue after charging for a while. The instructions said that it should turn off. Then, pushed the play/pause button for 3 seconds and instead of a blue (good) status and mp3 music, the light just went out. Tried every combo but no joy.
Cost me $8 to ship it back, even though it was obviously a defective unit. Didn't want another $8 gamble on something that has got quality control problems..
these are great. no wires no hassle. the lime green is sick. they stay nice n tight too. not the best bass but not bad. a little glitch... when you switch to the next song the first half second is almost muted, and then it goes to full volume. its just a little weird but no biggie. beware it will not load mp4 files from itunes. mp3 only. so if someone figures out how to load mp4s or switch those files to mp3 let me know!
