Shimano XTR FC-M970 Hollowtech II Crankset - 2009 BCS
Shimano's XTR Hollowtech II Crankset moves you closer to your one-finger weight goal without losing performance. Hollow forging allows for a lighter crank arm that's still super-stiff and strong enough for the most grueling XC course. Shimano's Octalink 8-spline interface further reinforces the bottom-bracket-to-crank connection, and a carbon-composite/titanium middle chainring improves durability. Hyperdrive tooth profiling dramatically increases shifting performance when integrated with the XTR chain and front derailleur system.

Best of the best for XC

These cranks not only look great, but are some of the best XC cranks out at the moment. They are very light, super stiff and the new chainrings are definitely better than the previous ones. The standard bolt pattern is also a great help. Took the top chainring off and added a raceface bashguard which fit perfectly without having to modify anything. If you don't mind spending the money, you will be hard pressed to find a better XC crank.

I've got a 08' Kona Kula frame (19"), with my height around 5'11-12" and would like to know whether this crank can be used and should the crank length should be utilized. I apologize for such a newbie question.

Yes this crank will fit
Read the Instructions for the proper spacer alignment
At your height I would go with the 175mm

Expensive but worth it

These cranks are second to none. They are stiff, light, shift great, and are aesthetically pleasing to say the least. I have a pair on my trail bike and on my slalom bike. While the chainrings are pricey to replace, they seem to last, and last, and last. Fit and finish is super nice. They are easy to install and have a lot of adjustment to them which is surprising as most cranks dont really have adjustment aside from BB shell. These are awesome. They are easy to set up, easy to remove to clean, and durable.
If a 6th bonus star were ever available for a part, the XTR cranks would get it

Top o' the line

Stiffest crank arms around. BB preload adjustment couldn't be easier. Put them on and go. New titanium carbon chainrings last twice as long. Replacement rings are pretty spendy but at least the bolt pattern is a 104 standard so you can use other chainrings.
Big ring it

These are great cranks. The middle ring lasts twice as long as the previous generation....and the arms are stiffer as well. The only problem I have is that replacement rings are expensive. Luckily on this crankset the bolt pattern is a standard 104 so you can use other rings if needed.

I put this on my centurion fixie it looks so rad against the rusted paint. My frinds call it, I also have a carbon seat post and mudflps with a trucker girl on them. They thought it was so rebellious to spray paint it neon yellow.
