The larger, but not huge, platform  is great for cross country mountain biking, with a more stable platform through rocky sections. Dual-sided entry for quick entry and exit means you won't be nancing around the trail head trying to flip your pedals over so you can clip in. The sealed cartridge bearing spindle requires minimal maintenance and provides buttery smooth action. The design of the pedal also sheds mud efficienty so you don't miss a beat after jumping obstacles in your next 'cross race. The adjustability of the cleat retention system makes it easy to get the exact tension you need for your riding style.

The Shimano PD-M530 MTB SPD Pedal are compatible with two bolt SPD cleats only. Cleats are included with these pedals.

What do you expect? For less than $50 bucks you get less than $50 performance. This pedal reminds me of why I stopped riding SPDs years ago. I had hoped that Shimano had made significant improvements over the years but I guess that just isn't the case unless you get their higher end pedals. For the price they are a good option for recreation and cruises but not much more.

Great Pedal... Very smooth entry & exit.

This is a great solid pedal. Allows easy in and easy out. I've had them for about a month, and they have been on many rides now, and so far no complaints.
