Scarpa Rockette Climbing Shoe - Vibram XS Grip - Women's

Item # SCR0135

Scarpa gave the Rockette Women's Climbing Shoe a down-turned toe and aggressive profile to give its wearers the performance needed to handle the toughest sport climbs and boulder problems out there. Dual hook-and-loop closures let you get in and out fast, so you can get on your project as soon as the stoke hits you. Scarpa used a combination of Suede and Lorica to let these those form to your feet as you wear them. Not to mention the Vibram XS Grip soles that stick to everything like glue.

Bottom Line:

For the steep stuff.

Killer shoes but killer break in period

By:
August 21, 2012

My boyfriend got this for me as a present about a year ago and it took me about 8 months to break in. I wear a size 7.5-8 shoes and wear 6.5 on the Anasazi lvs. I got the rockettes at a size 6 U.S. women's or a 37 euro and the pain was unbelievable. I wore the shoes about once a week bouldering for the past year and it was only about two months ago that it truly felt broken in. Now I use it to send my projects and they work like a charm. They stick to the tiniest of holds and feel amazingly secure on overhangs. These shoes are amazing! Yeah it was a super painful break in but I don't regret getting them 1 1/2 sizes small. They've molded to my feet now and while still a bit uncomfortable they do the job very well. So if you're looking for a serious bouldering or project shoe, look no further! Just take in the pain and you'll be fine. Afterall, no pain no gain!

wrong sizing

I had several different Scarpas before and I liked all of them a lot. So I ordered Rockette 34, 34.5, 35 (my previous shoes were 34.5, my street size is 36, I have narrow foot)

Unfortunately I couldn't even put Rockette (35 size) on my foot - they are that small! I compared them with La Sportiva Miura VS, size 35 too - Rockette are about 2cm less.

I ended with another shoes, hoping that next time I get more luck with sizing.

I rated these shoues basing on visual examination. (I also know that men's version of these shoes - Scarpa Booster works great).

Didn't work for me...

Let me start by saying I did return these (in 2 sizes).

I wear a 7.5 street size. My La Sportiva Muiras are a size 37. I ordered both a 37, and a 37.5 in the scarpa rockette. I have a wider foot at the toes, nothing ridiculous.

I mostly boulder, often indoors at anywhere from a V2-V7 in plastic land. I prefer a more down turned shoe for overhang problems. I understand the process of wearing in a tight uncomfortable shoe but these were just not right for my foot.

The construction of the shoe looks great, extremely downturned and aggressive - I was excited. However after squeezing them on my feet and wearing them around (both sizes) I still couldn't walk (read - could not put any pressure on my feet, walking was a laughable sight). The 37 would be the right size (same as my muiras), as the heel fit tight, but I think my foot is just too voluminous for this shoe. Perhaps a narrower foot may have a better chance.

I am jealous of those who can wear this shoe - I advise that you try these on if you can find a retailer.

I think the you ladies need to realize that sizing company to company is very different and sizing shoe to shoe is also very different, its stupid to compare sizing on a La Sportiva shoe to any other company so I hope no one told you to do that, Most people can downsize 2-4 sizes (from your street shoe) in La Sportiva where Scarpa and five ten are more true to your street shoe size. I'm certain that if any of you had done a little bit of research before buying these then you would have figured that out.

Rocket Power

The Scarpa Rockette's are a serious shoe, with a super down turned toe, made and best used for steep boulder problems, with little precise footing. I sized down a considerable amount for these, I wear a 42 in street shoes and bought a 40 in the Rockettes. The rand was super tight at first but stretched nicely to fit the heal. The toe box is perfect though, even with my toes curled it feels like it was made for my foot, the low volume and narrowness of the shoe is ideal for a ladies foot.
