Gear Review
not what you think...
By gilipollas January 31, 2012
mixed feelings on this jacket. as far as a "snowboarding" jacket as i would have expected, taking into account the dogfunk "recommended use" and being manufactured by burton, NO WAY. it is a rain jacket, nothing more. i don't even think it's like a spring riding rain jacket, i would be afraid to carry my board next to this thing while walking through the parking lot for fear of the edge ripping a hole in it. it's thin, definitely not for snowboarding as far as i'm concerned. so on that account, i would give it 2 stars.
however, i have been looking for a rain jacket, kind of eyeing marmot, mountain hardwear, etc. for a technical rain shell. this fits the bill perfectly. i got it on whiskey militia for $40 one night, and totally worth that much. i haven't worn it much, so i can't comment on performance, but the fit, style, and features are as good as any other rain jacket out there. burton gives an MSRP of $220 for this. absolutely crazy, not worth that much. in fact, the non "print," solid color versions of the jacket retailed for $100 less, so that gives you an idea of what kind of jacket this is. as far as a rain jacket, for wearing around town, backpacking, etc, i'll give it 4 stars. i feel like that was the intended purpose of this jacket, dogfunk just got the description wrong, so i feel like it fulfills that purpose well.
fit is slimmer than most snowboarding jackets, not really like a stylish slim, but i like it.
