I wear this pack on long day mountain bike rides in Colorado at high altitude and with lots of vert. If you have properly adjusted the pack to your dimensions it basically disappears on your back. The weight -- and I have no difficulty fitting in everything I need -- is almost entirely resting on your sacrum and pelvic girdle and your upper body is free to move. Unlike other biking packs I have used that have no frame and buck all over your back with a heavy load and rough terrain, this one stays put. I'm a pocket guy and would like to see it a bit more compartmentalized but that's my only gripe. I really don't see how it would carry skis well, though, and think the axe loop is unnecessary. But as a cycling pack: aces.
