These WILL turn in the trees...

By JH-EJ December 23, 2010

Love this ski. It is my quiver of one here in Jackson Hole. My first season on these big, stiff, versatile boards I had a pair mounted in normal boot center position with Freeride+ and found them tricky in the trees. I'm on the 182cm and 5'-10" 145lb so I don't flex them much and I really had to body english them into action in the trees. Aggressiveness is the key, as with any ski. Stay in charge and this ski will do tight trees. I picked up another pair for this season and had them mounted forward +1cm of normal boot center, the new ones with Dukes for inbounds/sidebounds and the old ones remounted with Dynafits for backcountry (this ski is stiff enough that re-drilling didn't change the flex at all on me). Both setups seem to turn MUCH easier in the trees now plus they can butter and "slarve" effortlessly, while their hardpack turning and crud busting abilities are left unharmed. For reference, I went through several pairs of Volkl Gotamas until the Zealot was introduced.

My humble suggestion is to mount them forward +1cm.
