Stupid European sizing
By Annette Murano May 9, 2012
I was so excited when these arrived. They looked like the perfect climbing/hiking bottoms. I checked the sizing chart, and while I'm normally somewhere between a 6 and 8 (I'm wearing size 6 Mountain Hardwear shorts right now), I opted for the 8 to be on the safe side. Apparently, I should have gotten a 10. I could just about button them, but not without squishing my guts into a hideous muffin top. I did like that there was a draw cord, to eliminate gappage in the back, and there was even a nice fleece band around the waist that would make it quite comfy. The length was perfect on my 5'-1" frame, long enough to keep my knees from getting scraped up, but not so long it looked like I just had on short pants. There are two buttons around the bottom hem so you can fit it around your calf to your liking. I gave it four stars because if they had fit, I have a feeling I'd give them 5, but it's crazy the sizing is so far off from every other brand I've tried.
