Gear Review
Solid performer
By greg August 25, 2010
I bought this pack just before heading out on a 5 day backcountry trip in the White Mountains. I loaded it up on its delivery and took it out for a pre-trip inspection. It performed flawlessly, until the sternum strap pulled off the pack (although it was pretty tight for my descent). It threaded back on with ease, but gave me some hesitation about the purchase. despite this, I took it on my trip. The same strap popped free from the pack once during the hike but it performed perfectly otherwise. The reviewer mba3879071 mentioned that he uses the pack for Search and Rescue work and I will be using it for the same type of work. I live at the base of Mt. Mansfield in VT and we are called to the mountain with some regularity. I think that this pack will be a perfect size for this type of work and has all the features you would typically find in more expensive packs. I especially appreciate the built in rain cover, which you would spend $30 to purchase separately. In short it is a great pack, especially for the price. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the issue with the sternum strap.
