Size Down, Warm Up!
By Hunter Lea May 15, 2011
Weekend climbing trips keep the proverbial fire burning when life gets dull. These boxer briefs keep it burning even when the forecast calls for four inches of suck all over your weekend.
I'm glad I sized down on these: the material stretches comfortably and gives plenty of support in all the right places. Crotch a little low? Waist riding high? Pull up at the hips and down on the waistband. The seams don't chafe when they bunch. As a recent convert to wool products, I'm endlessly amazed at merino's versatility. These kept me equally comfortable on a hot-and-sticky bouldering trip in Fort Collins and during a water-logged, 40-ish Fahrenheit weekend in Glenwood Canyon. While I'm not completely convinced these are odor-resistant, I appreciate the added comfort where synthetic undergarments are lacking. Finally, at $45 a pop, I'm glad these are 4-season worthy and pray they stand up to the test of time.
Happy trails!
