So I was looking for an alternative to a french press--something with no glass to break. Looking up the video reviews of this thing elsewhere are worth it to see how it works. The top and bottom are steel, the filter is metal mesh and the orange center and vent straw inside are plastic. There is also a silicone O-ring on the orange filter section for attaching to the lower mug. The larger mug section is double walled so its insulated, the lower mug is not so you can heat the water in it. It is about the same process as a french press and takes as much time to drip...maybe 5 to 8 mins. Coffee tastes good. Downsides: 1) State of California lead warning. I am guessing cheap steel can contain lead. 2) The taller mug doesn't fit in my car's honda cupholder, while it did fit in the XL cupholders or a Ford truck.
...also good for work, which might be what I use it for more.
