Gear Review
Not bad...
By Dianoda March 5, 2012
I like it. Versatile, warm for its weight, and the merino is comfy (itch-free) - I'd say the merino quality is similar to Stoic, maybe a bit better compared to my most recent stoic shirts (which are decent in their own right, although I'm partial to Icebreaker's 200g/m2). The fabric is relatively thin, just a bit thicker than Icebreaker's 150g/m2, but for warmth it's similar to the 200g/m2 stuff. Sure, the hood is a bit of an odd choice for a short sleeve shirt, but is not floppy in use, fits well, and is functional. The black w/ green stitch is sharp looking and stylin'. I like the fit, too - it's an athletic cut and longer than most, and the tail is about 2" longer than the front. As for sizing, I'm 5'8", 160lbs, and a medium is spot-on. I like the idea of backpacking with this shirt - the hood would allow me to forgo bringing a hat (for warmth, at least - might still need sun protection depending on the trip), and would help keep my sleeping bag a bit cleaner. I'd give the shirt 4 stars, but am bumping it up to the full 5 stars for being an absolute steal off bonktown.
