I wanted to love this jacket
By Mar4871581 February 28, 2012
First, let it be said I really like Ice Breaker as a company and I own several pieces of theirs, including another jacket that sits at the hip.
I *want* to love this jacket, but I don't. Here's why:
1) The Zipper.
Yeah, it's super great when zipped up, but that's the problem. It's *incredibly difficult* to get it to catch at the beginning of the zipping process. I thought I just needed to get used to the jacket, but after 4 months, I still struggle (sometimes for more than TWO FULL MINUTES) to simply zip up the jacket.
2) The pockets.
When it's cold out, I use my pockets to keep my hands warm, but the left pocket is actually sewn together in one spot towards the bottom. The button on front has been sewn through the pocket, so small stuff has a tendency to get stuck. I can't tell if this is a flaw in *my* jacket or if it would be on every jacket.
3) the Fit.
I got an XS and a S because I wanted to try out both sizes. I bundled up like it was winter. In the end, the XS fit better. (I returned the S). That said, after wearing it for several months, I've noticed the XS jacket always looks like it's being strained. I'm 5'2", 105lbs. Not a big girl by any definition. It's just unflattering.
I want to love this jacket, and it's a good jacket...but for the price, I feel like it needs to be more than "good"; it needs to be "great".
