Good as all around coat. Better options for layering

This hyllus is amazing on its own all the way through the fall even into early winter. it is NO patagonia R4 and is not meant to be. it is NOT windproof. I can wear the R4 in the middle of december on a ski day, above 20, all by itself. the hyllus is good with blocking wind, but again, if it gets up high enough..over 25mph, you'll still feel it a little.
the hyllus excels in having more range of motion than the R4 and is more comfortable in it's cut. I do not use it as a layer, rather as a casual cold weather jacket. it is good for the trips to the grocery store when it is snowing etc... when I am skiing, I use the r4 as a layer if it is sub 20. if it is above that I use the visio comp top and gamma mx fleece layered under my alpha LT or sidewinder and I am fine.
