I spoke with customer service at Light and Motion- The light has been OBSOLETE since 2009 and has sat on the "shelf" since then. Discount sites offer them super cheap (was originally $129 ish) Just like any other battery if it sits that long it may be in a deep discharge. CS said that it is not an absolute issue but it could happen. I have other Light and Motion lights that are GREAT- just be aware when you are trying to buy something and the price seems to good to be true- It could be! Also note- these sites are NOT authorized distributors for L&M.
