Gear Review
EQ Bag
By daw5842167 December 8, 2012
I bought the EQ Bag In the 74L Size. Just small enough to get away as carry-on. It's not a completely bomb-proof bag, but it is solid and extremely durable. The 600D Polyester resists scrapes and abrasions, and even has some protection form the elements (as the fabric is so close-knit). I used the bag four flights already, and as gear storage for climbing gear, on a roof rack, to the Whites. Solid bag, holds all my gear. Large separate compartment is a nice touch for smaller items. THe U-shapes opening opens wide and doesn't strain when you pile things inside the bag. Burly YYK zippers also hold up extremely well. My one complaint is with the shoulder strap. It isn't very comfortable, or well-placed, and the buckle loops seem a bit flimsy. If it had a more sturdy cambuckle-style strap, with a bit more padding, it would be easier and less awkward to carry around, not to mention more comfortable if you're holding it as packed as the bag allows. THe handle isn't very easy on the hands (but the added addition of handles on the side make for grabbing it and lifting it up to be easier). I wish there were daisy chains around the side, though, to lash on smaller items.
Verdict: Great bag with good construction, easy to load up and durable. Only downfall is it's incredibly uncomfortable to carry. For the price, definitely worth it if you're just using it to haul gear in a vehicle.
