I've been using this as a rain jacket so far but can't wait to test it skiing with some layering. It's just a shell. It hits at the mid hips and is slightly snug(I wear a 10-12 in pants) and is really roomy in the chest area(I think that's my problem and not the jackets--I'm a medium or size 7-8)
