Best combination bathrobe/jacket EVER
By the2432455 January 20, 2012
I've gone through about 5 jackets in the last 2 years (including several other Stoic jackets) trying chase the magical unicorn of jackets--one that I could wear while standing around at a bus stop without getting too cold, but could still cycle/ski/hike in without overheating. This jacket is the ONE!
For starters, the fleece liner is absolutely amazing--so soft and fuzzy! The fleece feels so comfortable on my skin, it doubles as a bathrobe for me at night! For once, wearing the hood is a pleasure on the neck and ears.
But nobody buys this stuff just as a bathrobe! "How does it PERFORM?!" I hear you ask. It does just as awesomely on the slopes as it does in my house. I've been wearing it non-stop for the last 4 months, and it's been just as perfect for those slightly-chilly days (15 degrees C) as it was skiing in A-Basin in Denver (-20 degrees C). How does it do that?! It's incredible! (Disclaimer--skiing I wear my cap 2 baselayer, of course, but still!!) The wind resistance is absolute.
I love this jacket A LOT. I may buy several just to have a lifetime supply on hand.
Details:
6'2", 170lbs. Got the Medium, and it fits perfectly, if not a little tight. I have a hard time touching my elbows together while wearing it, and getting my shirtsleeves down the arms can be a challenge, but I like my clothes to FIT, dammit! And how often have I needed to touch my elbows together in a life-or-death situation?!
I have long-ish arms, but the sleeves come all the way down. I wear it road biking, and the arms are still long enough, even at full extension!
It is a little bulky to carry around, but I've found that I can fold it like a shirt, then roll it up from the bottom, and the whole thing will stuff into the hood. It's still the size of a volleyball, but at least it's contained!
So, it's comfortable
