Best affordable wheelset I have seen yet.

So, based on MSRP of $550, many people online have argued that these wheels are heavy and are nothing special for the price. But I am yet to see anyone selling these wheels for MSRP. In fact, thanks to DoG, I paid 40% less than MSRP. For that price, there is nothing better.

I have ridden a number of OEM, factory, and custom wheels, most recently Bontrager Race Lites as trainers, and Bontrager Carbon Race XXLs for race days. The S27's are noticeably lighter and stiffer than the Bontrager RL's and feel far less like a trainer and more like an all-purpose wheelset.

The aero profile of the SRAM wheels is great and slices through the wind as well as my carbon wheelset but without the crazy crosswind issues. At 1600g, SRAM's S27's are not super light...but I refuse to call that heavy. I use my Ti skewers, lightweight tubes and lightweight foldable tires to offset the weight and, all in all, these are a mere 100g heavier than my race day wheelset.

Indeed there may be better wheels but not for the price. The hubs are butter-smooth and the rims, even if they are not the Zipp-inspired toroidal rims, are indestructible and are yet to find themselves out of true...even though my daily route includes a one-mile stretch of gravel roads, crumbly asphalt and a labyrinth of potholes that I sometimes find my way into. No pinch flats, no bends, no complaints. These are great wheels.
