Gear Review
Awesome all-around ride.
By montanatreeskier October 7, 2011
I bought the previous version of the Reveal 2.0, which is a little more luxuriously equipped (full XT, Recon 351). However, the newer version being sold here is probably a better bike in many respects - it has 180mm rotors (vs. 160mm on my version), and it has an easy-to-maintain Mavic/SLX wheelset (vs. Shimano's XT system wheels that came with mine - $10 per spoke, specialized nipples, etc make them a pain).
I have had hundreds of great rides on my Fuji and will testify that it is a fantastic ride for the X-C / true mountain rider who needs a bike that climbs well and provides an extra inch of softness on the downhill. The RockShox stuff has been ultra-reliable and requires virtually no adjustment. Just set and forget. Full SLX is a great way to go - Fuji doesn't skimp by putting, say, an XT rear derailleur with Deore shifters and cranks like a lot of companies do nowadays.
Probably the best thing I can say about this ride is how durable the frame has been. I just replace the bearings as needed (easy because they are standard sizes you can find in most hardware stores) and she keeps going. Three years later and still no creaking.
Suspension design is FSR licensed from Specialized. You can't go wrong with that. It is very similar in ride quality and geometry to Specialized's FSR line.
If you have a tight budget and need one bike that does it all, look no further.
