My XC bike has a 100mm of stock travel. Is there any advantage to buying this fork over a non-adjustable-travel 100mm fork? I'm wondering if I will be able to use the 120mm and 140mm settings, or if I will have to keep it at 100mm to avoid messing up the bike's geometry.

Luke there is no question that the bigger fork will change the geometry of the bike. I personally would not recommend a non adjustable fork for your application. With a cross country or all mountain bike the adjustable fork is necessary for climbing because without it you'll feel like your front end wants to just bob the whole time. I ride with both the FOX and the MAGURA froks and both are fantastic options. One advantage to the MAGURA I've found is it is supper easy to rebuild and the handle bar mount for on the fly adjustment is a killer plus. As long as the fork will adjust to within 20mm of your stock suspension I'd say that would be fairly close enough. The lower travel wont disrupt your climbs but with the longer rake and more travel you will see an immediate improvement in your downhill. Happy Trails
