I am wondering what size board to buy. My son will be 10 in February and has been snowboarding for 2 years. He weighs 60 pounds. Looks like the website recommends the 120cm board but I am wondering if the 128cm would work also since he is experienced and then it could last him longer. Or would he have problems with the 128cm?

My daughter is 12, 56" tall and weighs about 70 pounds. Her existing board is a 120, which seems a tad small. She wants a new board for Christmas, but I am hesitant to go over the 128-129 length. While she has been boarding for several years after skiing before that, I find that a shorter board is easier for kids to handle and also easier for tricks in the park. If you son is short, closer to 48-50" tall, I'd stay shorter 120-125. As an adult, a slightly long board is fine for me as I am more of a carver, but I think kids like the tricks and better control more than worrying about higher speed and carving. If he is in the park often, you are better off going a bit shorter. If he is 54" or taller or growing fast, you'll be fine with the 128. If its a lot longer than his last board, don't let him ride his old/shorter board this season - make him start with the longer board right from the get go - the increased length will be less apparent to him. IMO
