Could this double as a winter boot? Just for hiking in the snow?

I would not call these "full-on" Winter boots. They are not insulated and they are mid height. I suppose if you have mild Winters where you are from and your wore heavy wool socks and gaiters they might work. But, keep in mind that the Belknap is uninsulated and breathable; a great combination for Spring and Autumn...maybe even Summer in the higher latitudes.
