Backcountry.com is asking me to review this article. I will do my best. I have to say that I returned the article because it was too large, but I found the right size at Feathered Friends here in Seattle. I just love this pants. I have owned the previous version which I bought in 2003 (8 years ago) and they lasted 8 years! So, that says everything. I used them for everything from hiking to several summits above 4000 meters. It was time to retire them; no tears but a bit worn out behind the knees and a bit stretched out. So, I decided to replace them with the Courmayeur and I expect them to last equally long. I think their strength is the material, Schoeller, which is stretchy and very durable. My impression is that these pants are not as warm as the predecessor, but it could just be my impression.
Other than that, they fit really well, are reenforced at the knees and ankles (for crampons), although I would still complement them with lightweight gators for glacier hiking. You can adjust the size of the ankles and they are lightweight.
