Ok, first... I love my Prolight 4 pad, so naturally I was upset when it got a tear near the corner. To make things worse, I am in Iraq. So I had the repair kit sent out to me, only find out the directions called for a stove and boiling water! Well the water in the hotpot didnt get hot enough to melt the glue. After wasting all 3 packs, I came up with the idea of just cutting the glue into pieces, laying them on the mat, then putting the patch on top. Once I did that, I placed the already warm hotpot on top of the mat and let it sit there until the glue melted. This not only worked wonders but also left me w/the conclusion that, even after opening the pack, the glue is still usable. Once at altitude if I run into a jam I now I can use this kit well beyond its designed 3 patches! Oh yeah, DON'T use duct tape if you can avoid it. It leaves too much residue behind, leaving you to place a large patch beyond where the tape was placed.
