Oakley Crowbar Goggle

December 28, 2011

Fire iridium is not for night. They are for super bright sunny days. For night, use hi-yellow, or another lens with a higher VLT %.

Oakley Crowbar Goggle Replacement Lens

January 21, 2011

For night... H.I. yellow is better than HI persimmon.
I have both lenses. I use the HI persimmon for mostly cloudy days and the HI yellow for snowy days and night riding.
I'd get the H.I. Yellow lens for night

Yes, this is the 20' model. The less expensive version is the 10' model. But, the 20' model is capable of pulling at much faster speeds.

Grenade Big Crop Hat

November 16, 2010

Pretty sure it goes like this:
Small=7 1/8 medium= 7 1/4 large=7 1/2 and XL=7 5/8

Bummer because I'm a 7 3/8 and grenade never makes 7 3/8 hats :(

Oakley Arrestino Jacket - Men's

December 24, 2009

Im 6' 190 and I have the XL. It fits pretty big. I would have been fine with the L. But I have gotten used to the baggy feel of the XL and I like it. If you want more baggy, get the XL, less baggy get the L.

Smith Variant Brim Helmet

December 16, 2009

Hey.
I have had the Smith Holt helmet and the Maze helmet and I use crowbars 99% of the time. No gaper issues (check my pic in my profile: holt + crowbars). The Variant is def a 'skier' helmet though. Check out the Maze or Holt for sure.

Oakley Crowbar Goggle

December 15, 2009

Hey.
yea the hi yellow is awesome for low contrast, low light and night time. It has a 81% light transmission so it lets in a fairly large amount of light.
i think the g30 is only around like 30% so the HI yellow would be better for night.
H.I. Yellow or clear are the way to go for night.
hope this helps

Oakley Crowbar Goggle

December 15, 2009

Well for mirrored in the daylight, I prefer the black iridium lens, but with only an 18% light transmission, at night you can't see much.
The black iridium is awesome when its bright, and I use the H.I. Yellow lens for night time and its great. It's not mirrored, but is great at night and in low contrast conditions.
I dont really know if oakley (or anyone for that matter) makes a type of lens that youre looking for (mirrored in daylight but still be able to use at night / mirrored lens for low light and night).
Perhaps Pink Iridium would be your best bet? My girlfriend has pink iridium lenses on her stockholms and she wears those at day and night. theyre not 100% mirrored, but like maybe 40% mirrored.
hope this helps bro
take care

Grenade Team CC935 Glove

December 13, 2009

They aren't very warm. I only wear these riding if its a warm day (like warmer than 35 degrees F (~3 C). I would not recommend them for a -10 C day (14 F). You will have very cold hands. These also have no waterproofing. Your hands wont be totally soaked, but they wont be dry. I've worn these with it was about 28 degrees and freezing rain out and I was miserable.
Don't get me wrong though. I love these gloves (on a warm day). I wear them to work and when I'm walking around town and going out to the bars and stuff. They're comfortable and I get compliments on them all the time. They're just not made for snowboarding on cold winter days, they're made for spring.
If you want a pair of grenade gloves that are warm, I suggest the sub-zero gloves.

Oakley Arrestino Jacket - Men's

Oakley Arrestino Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 13, 2009

This is one of my favorite jackets that I've ever owned.
Features that are awesome:
-designed and ridden by Eero Ettala - my favorite rider and one of the best in the world. (he wouldn't endorse a jacket that isn't totally awesome)
-powder skirt zips to my Oakley pants (and is removable).
-15k waterproof rating. I put my sleeve under the sink and watched the water bead right off.
-100g insulation. Super warm. I usually only wear a tshirt under it.
-inner mesh lining is super comfortable
-lycra wrist gaiters keep snow out of your sleeves.
-internal media pocket has a velcro closure and is fleece lined. goggle pocket comfortable fits another lens.
-cell phone easily fits in velcro closed pocket on inner right chest (not mentioned in specs)
-easily accessible season pass pocket is located under the flap of the right pocket
-fleece inside around face is comfortable and warm.
-pockets zipper and snap closed.
Im 6' ~180 lbs and got the XL because I generally like things to be a little baggy. (I usually get XL sweatshirts etc.) I would recommend the Large to anyone around my size. The XL is a little bit too big for me, but I've grown to love the fit actually. But was still a little big before I was used to it.

Capita Quiver Killers Snowboard

December 11, 2009

This board is good for everything; all mountain, pipe, etc. Its a directional twin so if he's a big-time freestyle rider you may want to consider something that's a true twin. But, if he is an all mountain rider as you say, this could be a perfect board.

Pro-tec IPS Hip Pads - Men's

December 11, 2009

My buddy has a pair of 'crash-pads' (essentially the same thing but just made by a different company). He wears his boxers and long underwear (if he needs them) under his crash pads, then his pants on over his crash pads. This makes it easier for changing into and out of them. Also, if you scare the crap outta yourself, you wont leave evidence in your hip pads ;). Hope this helps.

Smith Maze Helmet

Smith Maze Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 December 10, 2009

I've had the Smith Holt helmet for 3 seasons and decided it was time to replace it. I loved it and was skeptical about switching to a new helmet. This one's even better! It's lighter by a few ounces, and its definitely noticeable. I wore a M holt helmet and got the M maze and the fit is fine (wear 7 3/8 hat). Smith also has a lifetime warranty on this helmet which is amazing (it says 1 year on the side over there -->, but its really lifetime). I have a bunch of pairs of goggles and they all fit well with this helmet (crowbar, prodigy, fuse, just to name a few). Excellent product from a company that really knows what they're doing with their helmets. And with the best warranty in the industry, there's really no reason to not wear one. Comes with a nifty helmet bag too.

Smith Phenom Goggle

December 10, 2009

I have Fuse and Prodigy goggles with sensor mirror lens. I ride a lot at night so I have the sensor mirror lens, but I've also used these a lot during the day. The lends is excellent at night. I'm not gonna say they 'work well' in sunny conditions, but they'll work. With a 70% vlt rating, they let a fairly large amount of light in. A more versatile lens would maybe be the gold at 42%. However, if you want maximum performance from the lens, I suggest getting the sensor for flat light, low contrast, and night riding, and probably the platinum mirror for brighter days. But the sensor mirror will work during the day :)you just might be squinting a little. hope this helps

Oakley Crowbar Goggle

December 10, 2009

In terms of size and fit, I think these are probably a little larger than A-frames. I probably have an average size face and prefer the fit and wider peripheral vision of the Crowbars over the A-frames. But it really comes down to personal preference. I would try them on at a local shop or something before you buy them.

sick pants

Oakley Arrestino Pant - Men's

Oakley Arrestino Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 10, 2009

I've worn these a few times out this year and they're great. The inner thigh vents go all the way around (venting your entire crotch, instead of just the inside of your leg). I wore these on one day a few weeks ago when it was pouring rain. Although water didnt 'bead' off of the fabric, my legs didnt get wet... and the weather was horrible. I have the 'gold sun' colorway. Its nice and bright but not obnoxiously bright like how some yellow colors are. Good stuff. I was expecting nothing but the best from Oakley, and they delivered.

Grenade Squadron Pant - Men's
