but not neccissarily bad. I ordered this coat a couple years ago off of SAC and right when I put it on it was instantly my favorite. I ordered another one recently to compare the Canada coat and the China coat. At the time of ordering I wasn't sure if I would get Canadian or Chinese. If it was Canadian I knew I loved it and would have another great jacket. I had bought a differnet Arc jacket by web and when I got it it was Chinese, wasn't impressed and sent it back. Maybe it was the style; maybe it was because it was Chinese. However, my new Gamma SV's (made in China) construction is still great. Good sew lines, Ykk zipper, same panels and consistant to the Canadian. The big difference is the fabric. It is 2% less nylon, 2% less spandex and 4% more poly. I am not sure if Arc forced this change and it is better or just cheaper to make or if Polartec made the change for the same reasons. I liked the more stretchy old Canadian style better. The old fabric had a more robust feel also. The lining seems to have a little less pile also. The fit doesn't seem to be perfect like my original, but maybe that is the subconscious prejudice against my favorite brand being out sourced (but not less expensive retail).
Overall it is still a great jacket, but definitely different although not neccissarily bad.
