Good, but there are better/cheaper options

Arc'teryx Rho LT Zip Top - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Arc'teryx Rho LT Zip Top - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 December 29, 2009

I have had this for about a year. I am 6' 205#s and the xl is pretty snug. As a baselayer it does it's job. I would call this medium weight. That being said, I just got the Stoic merino wool zip neck and I like it better and it's cheaper. Also, I don't know how to explain this, but the material of the Rho snags on dry skin, no big deal, but unpleasant.

Stoic Merino Bliss 150 Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Stoic Merino Bliss 150 Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 29, 2009

Just got this as a gift for Christmas and used it as a baselayer for skiing. It is really soft and comfortable. It is very light and wicks great. The zipper is long, so you can regulate the temp if you get too hot. I would buy another, but I would probably prefer the crew (just my preference). Well done, BC/Stoic.

Arc'teryx Sidewinder AR Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Sidewinder AR Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 7, 2008

Typical Arc'teryx build quality with no issues in two seasons of use. Wind and water tight. Great fit and thoughtful design for the most part. Down one star because the offset zipper doesn't add any benefit, and it catches on my right side helmet strap which is annoying.

Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket - Men's

Patagonia Down Sweater Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 7, 2008

Great fitting and performing jacket, not too puffy. Use it under your hardshell on cold days. Packs down small. I keep it in the back of my truck to beat the chill during post ski/bike beer. Montbell makes a good one too, but I'd go with Patagonia for their renowned customer service.

Comfy fleece lining. Good ventilation. Cool graphic design. Fairly large fit. Lens seems durable, and I haven't scratched the inside yet wiping it out. Highly recommended

Patagonia Footwear Honeydew Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 7, 2008

I love my pair in beige. They look grey in the pic, but it is more of a really light tan. I wear mine everywhere, office, dinner, concert, etc. They are super comfortable. I have had a bunch of Ecco's and these are more comfortable. The sole seems pretty durable after about six months.

Hestra Vertical Cut Freeride Glove DO NOT USE

Hestra Vertical Cut Freeride Glove DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 November 7, 2008

Back to basics, Hestra leather is the way to go. I have these and the XCR short. Both are great, although these fit better and move better. If they fit tight at first, it is perfect, as they will form to your hand in a couple of days. Unlike the XCR, these don't have any gore-tex, so you have to treat them with Nikwax. I used about half a tube on mine when I first got them. Bake gloves in oven at 150 degrees for a few minutes, liberally rub nikwax into palms and fingers. Repeat a bunch of times, then as needed throughout the season. The gloves develop a nice patina. Too bad they don't make the yellow ones anymore, cause mine look killer!

Arc'teryx Epsilon AR Softshell Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Epsilon AR Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 7, 2008

Great light softshell. I find it plenty water and wind resistant. It breathes great for high output activity or for layering under goretex. For spring skiing, it's perfect with just a baselayer underneath. I've also found it great for biking and fly fishing. Just keep in mind that it has very little insulation, just slightly more than a windbreaker. Also, it is DWR treated so you need to make sure that you clean it accordingly, ie powder detergent and warm tumble dry to keep it breathable. Great product and it's stood up great for over two years.
