Marmot Vertical Softshell Jacket - Men's

Waterproof..... Hmmmm.... Wish I could say it soaked through while sitting out a storm in the tetons.... Or blizzard conditions in Mammoth... A down pour while hiking in King's Canyon. But no, mine soaked through when I got caught in the rain.... at Disneyland. Really. Arms from the forearm down were soaked. Shirt underneath starting to wick and soak. Phone in my jacket pocket... soaked. Wow. In a moderate southern california rain storm. I am disappointed to say the least. The good news is my girlfriend was wearing the marmot rain shell and was dry as can be. But this jacket gets relegated to the "wear when walking the dog when there's a slight chill out" pile because it does not handle real weather (or moderate rain for that matter). Just glad I found this out before taking it into a situation where staying dry REALLY mattered.

Excellent Power Day Ski

Totally love these skis on a powder day. Haven't skied them in anything other than the occasional deep day at Mammoth when my visits coincide with a nice fat storm, but they are awesome performers in the deep stuff. So can't speak to groomers (what are those?) or even crud. But can't go wrong if you're looking for a solid powder ski.

Great All Around Ski

Atomic Sugar Daddy Alpine Ski

Atomic Sugar Daddy Alpine Ski

These really are pretty amazing all-around skis. I’ve skied them in waist deep powder and on groomers and they were awesome in both. They’re floatalicious in the powder and they straight out own cut up groomers. You don’t even feel the cuts and ruts, just bust through them (or float over them). The turn is a little soft (compared to your basic side-cut carver) but I had no trouble weaving them through the trees or other tight spots. Anything from three inches to three feet of fresh and this is the only ski you need. Great job Atomic.
