I love these gloves

I've read various negative things about these gloves in the reviews here. None of them match my experience. I've used the same pair of gloves for many years, in very cold conditions in Antarctica and in very wet and cold conditions in the mountains. My only problem with them has been that they are too warm sometimes. The only reason I need a new pair is that a colleague cut them on the sharp end of an ice-core drill! Love em!

Dalbello Sports Virus Lite Touring Boot - Men's

January 12, 2010

See my answer under the regular "tour" model.
Tour model may be a bit stiffer tongue than Lite, but neither is as stiff as the "Freeride" model.
Reports are that you can order spare tongue but they do NOT come with the boot.

Dalbello Sports Virus Tour Ski Boot - Men's

January 12, 2010

Reports on this vary a lot but the local stores around here seem to be giving me the straight scoop: the boots were going to come with two tongues, but Dalbello decided that would make the base price too high. The toungue on the Free (the model without Dynafit fittings) is very stiff; the tongue on the other two models is soft to medium. I have the Lite and love it, but do want a stiffer tongue for inbounds days. My local shop says they can order it for me but they are quite expensive (>$100).

Another thing on these boots is that they ship with a top-buckle that is a bit too long for most people. Ask about this when ordering.

best value in super-warm bag

The North Face Dark Star Sleeping Bag: -40 Degree Polarguard

The North Face Dark Star Sleeping Bag: -40 Degree Polarguard

Rating for this product: 4 March 24, 2006

I use these in the Arctic. The design needs a bit of work—the shape isn't quite optimum. But for the price they are impossible to beat for an ultra-warm bag. Too big and heavy for backpacking though. It would also be good if they made a short—these are too long and wide for some members of our team.
