Swix Carbon CT3 Ski Pole

November 19, 2009

use a heat gun. there also is specific glue for baskets. It's easier to work w/. Cut from the top as the bottom will be tapered and you'll change the diameter needed for your roller ski ferrules. Swix usually use a 10mm dia. Just go easy on the cork with the heat so you don't burn it

Atomic Boa Skate Boot

Atomic Boa Skate Boot

Rating for this product: 4 November 19, 2009

This boot isn't Atomic's full on race boot. However, it may be their best skate boot. I've never felt so stable and balanced on skis b4. The footbed, plus the insole combine to give an unbelievably balanced feel. The boa lace system is cool too. You can bend down while flying down the track and adjust your boot without stopping! I may add some padding under the tongue. I tend to really crank the boa system and that can cause some discomfort.

Scarpa F1 Race Alpine Touring Boot

Scarpa F1 Race Alpine Touring Boot

Rating for this product: 4 November 19, 2009

Backcountry.com rules!!! I can't believe they're selling these! I got mine last year in Italy while racing at the Euro Champs. I bought them at the gear fair, but a Scarpa tech was right there and immediately they went to work and replaced the top strap with a kevlar rope system attached to the lever in the back. It would've taken me hours to do what they did in 10 minutes. It reduces the weight even more. Additionally, I found that the fabric tongue did not give enough cushioning from the buckle strap, so this summer I made up a carbon fiber tongue. With padding it only added 10g per boot. Finally, I'll add that the fwd. lean is adjustable. It took me awhile to figure this out. the 2 screws on the back lever give you 3 positions of fwd. lean.
